Darko Rajakovic on Scottie Barnes:
“Scottie right now, the way he’s playing, he’s at 60% of the player that he’s going to be in 2-3 years. Scottie is going to be one of the best players in the league.”
@HalotiMatata@JPagano81@Steponaduck@chris_hummer I think it's also worth mentioning that the FCS was not churning out Day 1/2 picks consistently. The majority of guys were late rounders or UDFA who were likely practice squad guys or cut before taking an NFL snap
@Steponaduck@JPagano81@HalotiMatata@chris_hummer The lifting of restrictions on transfers has caused the gap, sure, but the ability to pay players itself is not inherently bad.
This *exact* model from 2023-2025 is unsustainable in the long run, but low conf talent funneling to P4 programs instead of the NFL is a good thing.
@Steponaduck@JPagano81@HalotiMatata@chris_hummer What? Any non P4 team is at a disadvantage from a talent standpoint if they don't have the NIL money, but that talent disadvantage is not unique to this era.
I'm not sure if you are intentionally missing the point on the draft, but NIL actually keeps talent in college!
@Steponaduck@JPagano81@HalotiMatata@chris_hummer You're missing the point. If a player in low level college football has a chance to either
1) Be a late day 3 pick/UDFA
2) Transfer to FBS to play at a high level program while earning $ from NIL
It is better for college football if he transfers up
@JPagano81@HalotiMatata@Steponaduck@chris_hummer If you are a college football fan, would you rather see FCS/NAIA players enter the draft and get picked in rounds 5-7/become a UDFA, or transfer up to FBS for a year first?
Feel like the answer is pretty obvious
"It's been good, man. They canceled my 30 visit, so I wasn't able to get around the facility, but I had a great interaction with them at the combine and FaceTime calls."
David Bailey talks about his interactions with the Jets:
