🚨NEW STUDY DROP🚨
NEW PATHOLOGY:
Remains of a small Albertosaur have been described preserved with the feeding traces of a dromaeosaurid. As there is no growth in the bone after the marks, it's safe to assume they were made after death. No idea if the raptor killed it or not.
@titanorex1989 Nice, i dont know if thats supposed to be an art or serious skull reconstruction, if its the latter, i would like to point out somethings:
The lacrimal and nasal are different from any megaraptoran preserved those bones, Surangular and angular are also different, but mostly nice
Joaquinraptor casali skull reconstruction
Joaquinraptor is the youngest Megaraptoran, its from the Lago Colhué Huapi Formation which dates to the late Maastrichtian, and its one of my personal favorite formations. Joaquinraptor is my first megaraptoran and one of their best taxa
A new albertosaurine from the Oldman Formation, Alberta, Canada, illuminates ambiguity between albertosaurine and tyrannosaurine characteristics: Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology: Vol 0, No 0 - Get Access https://t.co/w2HHiuGLoc
@MiloGaillard3 I had pleasure reading your post, and i agree that the taxon is not the commen ancestor of all Tyrannosauridae, when i read some cranial stuff in the paper, i knew that the skull is interestingly werid.
#FossilFriday I was aware that this research was coming, but I didn’t expect it to be published already.
Tromerosaurus solumons is the first time we have an albertosaurine genus that is not Albertosaurus or Gorgosaurus! Or at least probably an albertosaurine (1/7)
🚨 NEW STUDY DROP 🚨
NEW TYRANNOSAUR!
Tromerosaurus - named from as many as 5 specimens from the Oldman Fm of Alberta. May be earliest diverging Albertosaurine or Tyrannosaurine depending on how all that irons out. Overlaps in time with Gorgosaurus just a smidge
Thalassiodracon is one of the oldest pliosaurids ever found, dating back to the Triassic. His weird anatomy shows how different the older pliosaurids were from the upper Jurassic and Cretaceous Apex predators like Kronosaurus and Pliosaurus

Jinbeisaurus wangi skull reconstruction
Jinbeisaurus is a basal Albertosaurine, only known from a fragmentary juvenile specimen, based on Voris et al. 2025, however the skull and the preserved vertebrae scales to a 4-5m long animal. with a skull measured ~ 65 cm long.
