Sometime I think back to who I was before I had kids. I didn’t really want to have kids. I was the career girl. The travel girl. The host the parties girl.

If I could go back I would tell myself one thing:

You won’t miss any of this.

But once you have kids, you will spend the rest of your life missing every version of who they were.

You will miss the crawling.

🚨87 year old Federal judge David Hittner just struck down Texas SB 12, blocking restrictions on sexually oriented performances in front of minors.

His closing line to anyone who objects: “just don’t go.” That’s not a serious answer.

The law targeted commercial venues hosting sexualized acts around children, not private adult events. Telling parents to simply stay home ignores the state’s interest in keeping explicit content away from kids in public and commercial spaces. Overbreadth arguments shouldn’t swallow the ability to draw a line at minors.

The new mail-in ballot procedure isn’t something to be afraid of. It works like this:

1. The state provides a list of the ballots they intend to mail out.

2. USPS assigns a unique barcode to each.

3. When the ballot is mailed out, this barcode is scanned to ensure uniqueness and that it matches. If there is no match or it’s a duplicate, it is not delivered.

4. When the voter mails the ballot back, the USPS scans it again and checks to make sure it matches what went out and isn’t a duplicate. Any ballots that don’t match won’t be delivered.

5. This is all done on the exterior envelope. The USPS isn’t determining eligibility or deciding who gets a ballot. They can’t see the actual votes. They are essentially just ensuring there are no duplicates, that the number mailed in isn’t greater than the number mailed out, and that the person mailing one in was the same person who received them.

This is a common sense solution and is completely reasonable.

Why would anyone oppose it unless their intention is to cheat?

Below is a calf that was going to die because the heifer couldn’t birth it. I got it pulled and saved it. She’s now in my herd and will be a mother herself. That job took hours and raising her to years! The mother passed.

Serious question. We get about 40% of that $6.79 there. But what does it take to get that burger there? Who does that work?
