One of the best stories you probably haven’t heard much about continues to get better.

Last week I tweeted about Mark Lawrence Jr, who had battled injuries for years. In fact was out of golf for almost 2 full years. Had multiple surgeries.

In Knoxville he got thru an 8 for 3 Monday Q playoff. It was his second ever KFT event. He made the cut then shot 66-67 on the weekend to finish T17 and earn a spot in the next event.

Last week again he played well and finished T16, earning a spot in this weeks event.

Although he made the cut it didn’t look good to make the top 25 after an even-par 71 in round three.

Except early today he shot 65 and then had a LOONNNGGG wait to see if it was good enough.

He is going to finish T24. Good enough for a spot in the next event.

Out of golf, surgeries, working odd jobs, an 8 for 3 playoff.

Unreal.

Awesome story developing at the @KornFerryTour event in NC.

Mark Lawerence Jr played in the Monday Q last week in TN. Birdied three of the last four holes to get into a 8 for 3 playoff.

Got thru that. Made the cut, his first KFT cut. Then shot 66-67 on the weekend to finish T17 and get a spot in this weeks event.

He has battled injuries since his graduation from VT in 2021. Has had multiple surgeries to correct it and finally feeling healthy. Was unable to swing for months at a time. Worked odd jobs to make ends meet.

He opened with a 65 this week and was playing ok in the second round when it was suspended for weather last night. He had a few holes to play.

On his 18th he drove the green on the 306 yard par-4 and made the putt for eagle.

He’s now T3 heading into the 3rd round.

That’s what Mondays are all about.
