Introducing Reason-1. Our first mission.
The work began at Aetherflux. Now, as Cowboy Space, weβre carrying that mission forward.
It has shipped to SpaceX ahead of its scheduled October 1 launch. Its job is to prove out power beaming: using a high-power laser to transfer energy from low Earth orbit to a receiver on the ground.
If you want to build data centers in space, you have to master the optical systems between orbit and Earth. This is where that journey begins.
Enormous credit to our engineers for getting Reason-1 built and out the door. Stay tuned for updates.
$RKLB Happy Bday RL LC1. Man I love that they have some fun at Rocket Lab.
They are done with the mission and ready with the party π₯³ hats. Amazing job. 18th launched of the year and 97th overall. 3 more to get to 100.
Congrats to the @RocketLab team.
Im
Signing off..
Think Rocket Lab only operates in low Earth orbit? Think again.
When a spacecraft orbits the Moon, touches down on the lunar surface, or charts a course across deep space to Mars, there's a strong chance Rocket Lab technology helped it get there and deliver mission success.
Through our launch, spacecraft, solar power, separation systems, software, operations, and robotics solutions, weβre proud to support historic planetary exploration missions across the solar system. π§΅π
The biggest reason I invest in $RKLB & $SPCX
Everyone obsess over technical superiority; who has the better rocket, satellite, component, etc...
But the real moat in Space is cadence and capacity:
Proving that something works is one thing.
But building it and launching it at scale, and reliably, is another.
Rocket Lab and SpaceX understand what it takes to scale.
