The VA is skirting the law and its own regulations by not allowing veterans to seek community care. VA bureaucratic priorities should never come before the good of the veterans it serves.

“Repealing these AUMFs also removes the possibility that they might be abused in the future to take America to war again without congressional approval,” said CVA Executive Director @RussDuerstine.

"Congress, not the VA, makes the law which is why it should conduct oversight hearings on the VA’s attempt to ignore the 2017 VA Accountability & Whistleblower Protection Act. Until the VA fully upholds the active parts of the law, Congress should freeze bonuses for VA officials"
"Rather than embracing and participating in the process to ensure quality care by holding VA employees accountable for poor performance and misconduct, @SecVetAffairs has chosen to put politics ahead of the veterans he and the VA claim to serve."

@DeptVetAffairs and especially @VeteransHealth usually aren't this bold about ignoring statutory law.
@SecVetAffairs, please tell us, where do your priorities lie?
Do you prioritize the veterans that you and your department are charged with caring for, or @AFGENational?
Thank you to @HouseVetAffairs for prioritizing Veterans' healthcare!
Veterans' healthcare is the VA's chief responsibility. The purpose of the law they have decided to ignore is to keep bad actors away from causing harm to #Vets who have no choice in when / where they get care.
We agree that accountability at VA is about keeping the good employees in + the bad ones out to serve America's veterans.
Chairman @RepBost has held 2 hearings since January to hold the Biden administration accountable for veterans and taxpayers – anything less is unacceptable.
