The Los Angeles Lakers announced that longtime public address announcer Lawrence Tanter is retiring after an incredible 43 seasons behind the microphone.
He had missed the team's last 6 home games of the regular season, including the playoffs after suffering a stroke back in March, per ESPN.
Tanter's voice became a staple of Lakers home games, helping define generations of basketball memories at the Forum, Staples Center/Crypto Arena.
While he's stepping away from his announcing duties, he'll remain with the organization as a special advisor for game presentation.
