@AaronThackuelj @HEPennypack1 Mode, manner, it's specific way of working. Take the definition of a unicorn, it involves physical properties. But there are no physical unicorns. So unicorns don't exist in the physical mode, only the conceptual mode.

@xility_11 I think you underestimate non-muslim men, very much so. (It's a veeeery diverse group)

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@jamieisabaddie Sounds like a lot of fun! What tribe was this?

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@AaronThackuelj @HEPennypack1 I wasn't saying the "reason for it's existence" is that it "just is". I was saying the mode of its existence is that it "just is", as opposed to being physical. In my 4th reply to this thread I gave one of the arguments.
No realm needed. They're just concepts.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@jamieisabaddie What are you working on?

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@AaronThackuelj @HEPennypack1 I don't believe in brute facts. I gave one of the justifications for why concepts logically precede the thing they are a concept of. There are reasons concepts exist but the mode they exist in is not physical or mental or whatever, they exist by logical requirement.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@AaronThackuelj @HEPennypack1 They don't need to be anywhere. Spacial referent is a physical phenomenon. You're asking concepts to be physical with these spacial and material descriptions. (They don't get positions or material if "in the mind" anyway they would be a "mental product".) The numberline just is.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@AaronThackuelj @HEPennypack1 You can refer to a representation as a concept but that clearly isn't the domain we're talking about. 1 is a concept. If anything can exist there can be 1 of it, so the concept, 1 exists. It doesn't need to be anywhere. You're the one imagining it in the stars. Don't do that.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@AaronThackuelj @HEPennypack1 I don't believe in "forms" no. If it is possible for x to exist then the concept of x exists already in that possibility. If something exists then it was possible that it existed. Therefore the concept of a thing always logically proceeds the thing. These are not thoughts.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@AaronThackuelj @HEPennypack1 Language just carries meaning it doesn't create it. The concept of a thing always logically precedes the thing. You don't need minds for concepts to exist.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@taylorwcyr Yea when discussions end up like this they've stopped doing philosophy. You hate to see it.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@AaronThackuelj @HEPennypack1 Why not? That's a really weird question.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@HEPennypack1 @AaronThackuelj That's not required at all? Something can exist because it's alternative is a contradiction. You can have reasons for things that are not causes.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@xility_11 @Sangolerdingle The satisfaction of a woman is worth the life of a child? That's your stance? Is that reeaallly your stance?

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@xility_11 You can be close friends with someone with conflicting views. Happens all the time. If you can understand where those views are coming from (such as a stance that life begins at conception and valuing the baby's life) then it's very easy to get along.

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@xility_11 And if so, if someone believes that life begins at conception, as is the standard biological description and certainly what your pro life friend things, don't you think their position is understandable? Why wouldn't you be friends with them?

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@xility_11 "idrc it's their life" isn't that like saying you don't care if someone mugs people on the street, it's their life? That's immoral, and it affects someone negatively, just like abortion affects the baby.
On 120 days, shouldn't the Muslim position be no abortions after that? 1)

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@xility_11 Are you saying that you would rather not have an abortion, or that it would be wrong for you to get an abortion, but for others it may not be wrong? Isn't this just dependent on if it is a human child?
Speaking of, when would you say it becomes a human being?

[Bit Cloud @Concious_Entity]

@xility_11 Mothers survival sure, most pro life advocates are. Some are for rape but that seems illogical to me. Are you against elective abortions without those special cases?
