My personal opinion (based on a few things I heard at MW media days):

-The Mountain West should be looking to add the Montana States and South Dakota States of the world IF they’re able to exclude them from cutting into the media rights financial pie (and get over each state’s governments not wanting to divide its own schools between levels)

-New Mexico State is unlikely following the addition of UTEP which is the same market

-Grand Canyon should be (and could already be) looking into adding football

-The Mountain West is locked into a 6-year TV deal. The more teams they add, the less money each school receives (unless different arrangements are made)

Mountain West Commissioner Gloria Nevarez on potential conference expansion:

“Right now, we have 10 football teams, which is a great number. You need eight to be FBS, and we felt 10 was important to provide balance and a good schedule cadence,.
