Some women cannot fathom that there are women out there (dozens!) who actually believe the same things that men like Tom--not to mention the Bible--has to say about their roles in church life.
Eating with a group of pastors & talking about church leadership at The Irma in Cody, WY & a random lady walks by quickly & leaves this note on the table.
“You have any women in your church? Ask them.”
You can’t make this stuff up. 🤣
@MusingsOnChrist Deborah was an incredible leader that stepped up when God called her. She also was humble and let a very weak man (Barak) lead when God commanded. We now have millions of women who think they are a once in human history leader like Deborah but very few with her humility.
@jballigood Should've said "reject Nicene Trinitarianism" honestly.
The last debate I got into with those guys, years ago, they were also defending monothelitism.
A disembodied hand wrote on the wall.
Weird but true.
Balaam's Donkey spoke.
Weird but true.
The Red Sea was parted. Water came from a rock, and manna came from heaven. The sun stood still in the sky. The axe head floated. The Heavenly host sang over the shepherds. Jesus rose from the dead. Believers are temples of the Holy Spirit.
It's all weird, and it's all true. Scripture says so.
Bible-believing Christians know that the world is weird and a spiritual-physical cosmos.
They don't struggle with the truth of the supernatural or the unseen spiritual realities.
If a Christian believes all these things (and I do) and yet rejects some other "weird" things, it doesn't follow that it is merely because they are weirded out by it.
It may be that they reject something because of the subconscious influences of rationalism.
They may reject something because it isn't rightly derived from Scripture.
For example, I reject the angelic view of Genesis 6 for exegetical and biblical-theological reasons. Many men today and throughout history have done likewise.
I believe all the weird things in Scripture, and I have seen some really weird things with my own eyes.
The weird is often thrilling. Interestingly enough, the weird things in Scripture tend to be coupled with a call to repentance and/or greater trust in God.
If you are embracing the weird things of Scripture, it'll show in your character and way of life... You know... for example... in how you interact with those you disagree with.
I heard an absolutely hilarious joke in my dream last night but then I woke up and now I'm mad because I can't remember the joke that I technically came up with.
Such a bad faith response. Paul gives instructions for the Eucharist to the church which included women. It's necessarily contained therein.
The command to be baptized is and always has been to those who repent and believe. Infant baptism is NOT a good and necessary consequence.
This one really brought out the demons.
What's crazy is that these people literally cannot conceive of someone being happily married and not a closeted homosexual.
Pray for them.
