“Lord, we pray especially that among these [American] children, who are intelligent and athletic yet at the same time gullible and naive, some mystics or fools for Christ will someday emerge, those who will shatter all of Satan’s temples and penetrate with burning torches lit by the fire of the Holy Spirit the underground caves of Satanism, opening wide the gates of the hearts of all men to an encounter with Jesus Christ, because in this century of material overindulgence, America needs more fasting and prayer; she needs genuine saints who could revolutionize the entire universe toward new dimensions.
However, for all this to be accomplished, Lord, we pray You to bless America.”
—Archimandrite Roman Braga :: “Prayer for America” :: 1972

But what about the Bereans? In arguments over Sola Scriptura, this text is often utilized. But I think a few questions will make it clear how this text does not support Sola Scriptura.
Just for the sake of argument, suppose the Bereans came to the opposite conclusion than they did.
In that situation are we to think that they were then not obligated by the teaching of the Apostles because they disagreed with it? Does apostolic authority stop at the door of individual consent?
If they would still be obligated even if they disagreed and if apostolic authority does not stop at the door of individual consent, then they aren't normative peers with the Apostles.
Verifying claims doesn't make one a normative peer, but just an epistemic one. They could know what Paul and Silas could know.

Here you can hear & see typical Reformed polemic for iconoclasm. Notice the distinctly Platonic reasoning of all images being a lie. (Ergo, the Temple was filled with "lies" by divine command.) Notice also how it throws the Lutherans under the idolatry bus. And there are plenty of problematic Christological implications as well.
