Life after Amorim 🔥 #FletcherBall 🎥
We can build-up, play through, play over & play around! Press, counter-press. No stress. Just pausa & progress
“Same game” — No. Any pro analyst will tell you this is visible improvement. And it can only get better!
The starting formation was a clear 442. More consistently than the occasional 442 seen in pre-season vs same Bournemouth.
With it we attacked much better. Defense tho? If we going to play like this, why not move Yoro to LCB, Dalot RB. Shaw LB — to their natural instincts?
While it is hard to blame Amorim yday, formation doesn’t equal system. His systematic choices — choice to skip/rush 1st phase build-up, opting to go long every so often, dawg intensity all at once with direct attacks, no tempo/pausa/rhythm is what caused the end-to-end basketball 🏀 with no control. Even when Mainoo massively helped in that department.
Simply tiring and unsustainable football. Entertaining for neutrals? Sure. Win big trophies long-term? Sorry, no; this system, more precisely his current philosophy doesn’t cut it in top tier.
523 vs 523. Better XI won. Wolves basically served us “Amorim-ball” before Amorim even had a chance
— 2 mids vs 2 mids so Amorim’s usual weakness not exposed
— No midfield overload
— Rather huge space in the middle
— Mount/C10 dropping deep gave the +1
— Their missing 3rd mid to track Mount’s run on his goal plus a static back-5 was very similar to Fulham/Smith-Rowe goal against us
Happy with 3 points, but not fazed. Wolves might be the worst PL side I ever had displeasure of watching
Ineos and Amorim’s 1st choice striker by the way. Liam Declapped. How can a target striker be bullied like this?
Dodged massive bullet only by chance. This is why I still can’t trust this project yet
good luck to United when they play him as a 6 in Amorim’s system and realise that we don’t actually get much better at all cos the manager is still garbage
Amorim is so good at explaining complex abstracts like struggle, mentality, intensity but once you ask him to explain tactics… he has even better answer. Hard to explain lmao
Amorim had back-5 throughout the game against:
— Spurs in a European final while down 0-1
— League Two Grimsby while trailing 0-2
— Ten-man Everton while chasing 0-1
Is this really the Manchester United we grew up on and fell in love with?
Patrick Dorgu for Everton [24/11] 🎥
Simply stoppable on this day.
Can’t even blame him. It’s on Amorim splashing 35M on a “starter” who probably needs a loan to learn how to start. Then platforming him incorrectly like he’s prime Ryan Giggs
