@BarryNSmith79@ShakinthatChalk I do agree with that, it's hard to build a culture when teachers are working alone for 5/6hrs a day. But given we can't recruit/retain already, increasing hours/shortening holidays will hardly help?
@BarryNSmith79@ShakinthatChalk How would you square that circle then? Teachers work longer hours for more money, or children get less teaching hours over the year?
@oldandrewuk My school is under the opinion that rewriting the curriculum every two years will sort out behaviour. Oddly, it doesn't seem to be working...
@sambisback @timmiclark@ArrEssVeeTwin@dryseagacker@oldandrewuk To clarify, you have worked in a school where a young carer was late to school due to caring responsibilities, the school knew about this and still issued and enforced a detention? When you obviously raised this with the head/chair of Governors, what did they say!?
@rachelgmarks@ShakinthatChalk@Mr_N_Wood A primary student will be in the same room with the same teacher for the whole day. A secondary student will move between 5 classrooms and 5 teachers a day. Why bother keeping track of the pen you borrowed P1 if you know your P2 teacher will give you another...
