Donald Trump promised he would not drag the US into another forever war. He lied and we are now trapped in a war with no clear objective, no plan, and no exit strategy.
Today, Congress took the first step to ending the illegal Iran War by passing a War Powers Resolution and asserting our exclusive Constitutional authority to declare or not declare war.
Now it’s time for the Senate to do its job.
Sierra Club is proud to endorse the Offshore Leasing Standards and Accountability Act and the Ending Fossil Fuel Bailouts Act. These commonsense bills would strengthen oversight of offshore drilling and ensure polluters—not taxpayers—are responsible for cleanup costs. Protecting our coasts means holding the fossil fuel industry accountable. 🌊 #ProtectOurCoast
Bill Pulte spent the last year illegally using the Federal Housing Finance Agency to go after Trump’s critics. Now, Trump is appointing Pulte, who has ZERO intelligence experience, as Director of Natl Intelligence.
Pulte’s appointment would make us all less safe from foreign and domestic terrorist threats, and would serve exactly one purpose- to further weaponize the federal government against anyone who speaks out against Dear Leader.
I urge my Senate colleagues to use any and all tools available to stop this dangerous appointment.
A new park in Costa Mesa! I was so proud to join Costa Mesa leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Shalimar Park, a project I was proud to help fund during my time in the State Senate.
As a former kid (yes it’s true) and the father of three young ones, I know the importance of having safe public spaces where families can gather and kids can play and explore their imaginations.
Congratulations to the Shalimar community on this exciting development!
Our coastline is central to our way of life in Orange County—it supports our families, small businesses, tourism economy, and the communities that make California’s coast so special. But President Trump has made clear that he is willing to give the fossil fuel industry a blank check, no matter the cost to our coastal communities, our climate, or taxpayers.
I’m proud to introduce the Offshore Leasing Standards and Accountability Act and the Ending Fossil Fuel Bailouts Act to strengthen oversight of offshore drilling and stop fossil fuel companies from using bankruptcy to abandon their environmental responsibilities.
I’m grateful for the support of local leaders and advocates fighting to protect our coast, communities, and future.
America’s 250th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the kind of country we want to build for future generations. No parent should have to worry about whether their child will come home safely from school, and no community should have to live under the constant threat of gun violence.
This Gun Violence Prevention Month, I’m proud to partner with @Sen_Alsobrooks on this bicameral resolution to honor victims and survivors, recognize those working to prevent violence, and reaffirm our commitment to make our communities safer.
I raised this alarm last year when I led a letter demanding transparency around Trump's tariff negotiations.
Now we're learning China is giving special favors to Trump-affiliated businesses. Let's call this what it is: pay to play politics that is enriching the Trump family.
There’s a reason why it’s illegal for the President to run private businesses or receive payments from other countries. And it’s about damn time we upheld the law. https://t.co/OCI7gWVvkC
Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈 Pride is a celebration of dignity, courage, and the right of every person to live openly and safely as who they are.
At a time when hate and discrimination against the LGBTQ community is at alarming levels, it is more important than ever that we make clear that all are welcome and cherished. I’m proud to stand with Orange County’s LGBTQ+ community and recommit to building a country where everyone feels safe and valued.
One of the great honors of serving in Congress is nominating exceptional young people from our community to attend our nation’s military service academies.
I was proud to host our Service Academy send-off to recognize the students who have committed to attending the U.S. Military Academy, Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy.
These students represent the very best of Orange County, and we thank them for answering the call to lead and serve as our nation’s future military officers.
Happy Jewish American Heritage Month! This month, we celebrate the contributions of Jewish Americans to this country’s cultural fabric.
I had the opportunity to visit the Chabad Center for Jewish Life in Newport Beach and learn more about the Museum of Tolerance they are building—a space rooted in remembrance, education, and our shared responsibility to confront hate in all its forms.
At a time when anti-Semitism is rising to alarming levels, this message of stamping out hate and remembering our past is so important.
We’re here to ask Pam Bondi why and how the DOJ released the identities (and nude photos) of Epstein survivors, while redacting and protecting the billionaires, including Trump, who preyed on them.
This was downgraded from a subpoena to a closed-door “voluntary interview” with no cameras and no public access. And only one Republican showed up: Oversight Chair James Comer. Apparently, zero other House Rs thought it was worth their time.
We are going to get to the bottom of this.
After her disastrous handling of the Epstein files, Pam Bondi is now being handed another role in the Trump Administration. This is another reminder that in Trump’s Washington, protecting the President and the Epstein elite gets rewarded while actually doing your job well gets punished.
Tomorrow, @OversightDems will be demanding answers.

Trump is not just pardoning white collar criminals. He is wiping away the money they owe to victims. Billions of dollars in restitution: gone.
Meanwhile, House Republicans look the other way because their only principle is loyalty to Trump. Congress is supposed to assert its authority. Under “Meeker” Mike Johnson, Republicans have chosen fecklessness over the Constitution.
Senator Welch and I are putting down a marker now: Donald Trump will not be president forever. There must be consequences for corruption, abuse of power, and using pardons to reward Trump’s political allies and cronies.

Wishing our Muslim community here in Orange County and around the world a blessed Eid al-Adha.
As families, friends, and neighbors come together in prayer, reflection, and service, I hope this holiday brings peace, joy, and meaningful time with loved ones. Eid Mubarak!
Many finger hearts for the @APAICS 32nd Annual Awards Gala, also known as Asian Prom, and Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! I appreciate any chance to break out my traditional Korean hanbok and join the many leaders, public servants, and advocates from across the AANHPI community to celebrate our shared heritage.
Happy AANHPI Month!
Howard Lutnick gave $5 million to House Republicans ahead of his interview with the House Oversight Committee.
Coincidentally, House Republicans made sure there were no cameras in Lutnick’s interview, which made it far easier for him to lie, evade, and dodge the actual questions we had about his role in the Epstein sex trafficking ring.
Campaign finance is being used for straight up bribes. We need to tear it all down.

According to a lawyer involved in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, Epstein would not have been able to commit his crimes without the complicity of banks. @CongressMin and Oversight Dems will hold all involved accountable.
Today I visited the Field of Honor in Newport Beach to pay tribute to the brave Americans who gave their lives in service to our country.
Each flag represents a life of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism. On Memorial Day, we remember those heroes and recommit ourselves to the values they fought to defend.
