Today our 5th grade ELA team did a STAAR reading camp! All teachers focused on one skill and created engaging reading activities. An enjoyable experience for us teachers and the students! #LLLS63339
Parker Looks Up by Parker Curry and Jessica Curry.
Parker views Amy Sherlad's inspiring portrait of First Laby Obama and catapults to a young girl full of hopes, dreams, power and promises. Great for children and adults alike! @UHCLLiteracy ##LLLS633310
Group sharing at the end of a lesson is a great way to check the understanding of students. I'm going to incorporate more group sharing in pairs rather than whole group! This will give more students the opportunity to give their examples/reflection of the lesson. #LLLS63338
I have been incorporating more book talks into my lessons to get my students excited about reading and choose books that they usually wouldn't. I have a lot of Diary of a Wimpy Kid lovers! Today's book talk was Rules by Cynthia Lord. #LLLS63337
Lesson idea: have students adapt from the graphic below. E.g. advice from a dog; advice from the ocean; advice from a musician, etc. Brainstorm your own list. Once you have a list, pick one and write. (My apologies: I do not know the source of the chart).
Would like your thoughts on this question: How will your instruction be different when you are able to teach completely face-to-face with full capacity classes? In other words, once we no longer have any pandemic-related restrictions? What have been your take-aways from all this?
I want to create sneaky readers! It is crucial that teachers encourage students to read at school and home. Incorporating 20 minutes of reading each day exposes students to 1.8 million words a year. Independent reading time improves student reading ability greatly. #LLLS63331
