After months of heavy reporting and many heartbreaking testimonies, I’m so proud to share that my story about body repatriation in Ukraine is live for @BusinessInsider. A special thank you to my amazing editor, @zakjason

Russian attacks on Kyiv won’t stop Ukrainians from watching boxer Oleksandr #Usyk championship fight against Rico #Verhoeven
A crowd is growing at an underground metro station to watch the match:
I’m thrilled to share that my story, “Returning Ukraine's Dead," is a finalist for the 2026 Livingston Award for international reporting.
Thanks so much to @zakjason for believing in this story.

This is so bleak: a metro news editor ridiculing a promising job applicant for saying she wants to write her own articles rather than letting AI do so.
We got into this business because we love both talking to people and digging AND then writing up what we learned.
It's both.
Mykhailo Heraskevych, father and coach of Vladyslav Heraskevych, reacts to the news that his son has been disqualified from competing in the Winter Olympics.
Washington Post is shuttering its book section, part of the ongoing war against literacy & knowledge.
We at @curaffairs want to pick up the slack by expanding book reviews. Writers: pitch us anytime! And if you subscribe/donate we'll use the funding to commission book coverage.

Also I’m not above asking for a retweet. Thanks and ✊🏻
I was laid off from The Post today, from a dream job working in visual investigations. I'm sad for affected colleagues and for the meaningful, impactful work we won't be able to complete together. But also...I'm stunned. Angry even.
January alone I investigated 2 fatal shootings by federal agents in Minneapolis and feel compelled to keep going. If you want to collaborate, please DM or signal.

Unfortunately the Washington Post has decided to eliminate its Berlin bureau and with it my job. It's been the honor and adventure of a lifetime to be Berlin bureau chief, even if just for 6 months.
So many great journalists have lost their jobs today. It's a dark day.
Cried through the first take of this video. Our arts team was decimated, most arts reporters, most critics, in the mass layoffs at @washingtonpost. It's a sad day for anyone who cares about the arts — now for action, looking for work, ways to still support artists.
So I join the ranks of the WashPost laid off, including so much of the international staff, my Russia-Ukraine department has been gutted and some of the best people fired. What serious paper doesn't cover that conflict?
I was laid off from the Associated Press after 7 years of being tenured, without any prior notice, after receiving 13 international awards for the war in Yemen, including the Pulitzer Prize as the first Arab journalist to receive it, along with a fantastic team and other awards. All my love to the team I worked with and my colleagues.
for any Washington Post people left dangling: I'm always looking for pitches for the Voices section of @theintercept. Op-eds, reporting with a viewpoint, more. feel free to reach out any time: [email protected]
