@SharonB30244039@European_HQ Are you serious?? I am not sure what fairytale land you live in where kids will just do exactly what you say. Bet you would be the first one to yell about it if one of them instinctively ran out instinctively in front of a car because they seen a butterfly they wanted to chase
@European_HQ Seems responsible and smart. They are not being hurt. Kids wander off. Thats reality. They are fine and probably having alot of fun. People find anything and everything to scream about these days. Be happy people!
@atensnut Yes it can literally save that child's life! That is not child abuse at all. It may be uncomfortable to watch, but accidents happen all the time, and you would be so appreciative if this training kicked in. People have to quit being so soft. Love your children, train them.
I haven’t posted in a few days.
And in the rescue world, that’s almost a death sentence for your social media reach. If you don’t post, you disappear. If you disappear, donations slow down.
But the truth is…
I haven’t felt like posting.
We found out Gordi has a mass on his spleen.
My senior girl Maggie is having a harder time getting up lately.
Kringle appears to be having some neurological issues and will be seeing the vet on Monday.
We’ve spent days preparing this ranch for storms and potentially catastrophic flooding that, thank God, hasn’t come.
And when I do open social media lately, rescue just makes me angry.
I see which dogs get thousands of shares and which ones are practically invisible. I see cases explode because they have national attention while another dog—a one-year-old dog in Austin facing death—barely gets talked about.
And I keep thinking:
Does a dog have to become a headline before its life matters?
It shouldn’t.
It’s hard watching some cases raise thousands of dollars in hours while we’re quietly wondering how we’re going to pay for what our animals need here.
And I want to be clear—I don’t want another rescue to receive less.
I just desperately need Layla’s Heart to receive enough.
And then when we ask for help, there are always people ready to point out that we’re “always behind” or “always in survival mode.”
Sometimes I have to laugh at that.
Of course we struggle. Rescue is struggling.
There are too many animals who need help, too few homes, and never enough money to save every animal who deserves saving.
The difference is that we’re willing to tell you when we’re struggling.
We’re not going to pretend everything is fine because it looks better on social media.
We show you the beautiful days here.
And we show you the hard ones, too.
We don’t have some enormous safety net sitting behind us.
We have you.
And somehow, for five years, this community has helped us keep going.
So even though I haven’t wanted to post, today I’m showing up.
Because it’s $5 Friday.
The animals don’t stop needing food because I’m discouraged.
The bills don’t stop coming because rescue feels heavy.
And Gordi, Maggie, Kringle and every animal on this ranch still need us to keep going.
So today, we need you.
If 100 people give $5, that’s $500.
500 people = $2,500.
1,000 people = $5,000.
If you can give $5 today, please do.
And if you can’t, PLEASE SHARE THIS. After being quiet for a few days, we desperately need your help getting Layla’s Heart back into people’s feeds.
Not because our animals are trending.
Not because somebody famous shared them.
Not because their stories made national news.
Simply because their lives matter.
That has always been enough of a reason for us.
I hope it’s enough of a reason for you, too.

@LaylasheartOR I was wondering if maybe you could ask your local news station if they could run a segment to interview you and your rescue? Perhaps you could reach the population that may not even be aware?
@Conover17L I am writing about Sergeant Snuggles, the Anatolian Shepherd held at Pima Animal Care Center since his seizure on October 7, 2025. I am not a party to the case. I am asking the County, which has custody, to meet a basic duty of humane care and to agree to a court-approved alternative to continued kenneling.
A destruction order is on appeal and is stayed by bond. Until that appeal is decided, the dog remains Jennifer Evancho’s property in the County’s possession. Holding someone else’s animal under a stayed order does not remove the duty to keep him in humane conditions.
County records already filed in federal court document shelter stress, an extended hold because he was becoming more stressed and anxious, and psychoactive medication. He has now been in a kennel for nearly a year. For a livestock-guardian dog, that is not humane maintenance. It is prolonged confinement the County’s own file describes as harmful.
The injured family member opposes destruction. The owner has offered strict confinement at home and transfer to a licensed sanctuary that would not adopt him out without a further court order. Neither request asks the County to ignore the court. Both can be done by stipulation while the appeal and the federal case proceed.
I ask the Board to direct the County Administrator, the Pima Animal Care Center director, and the County Attorney to do three things: confirm in writing his current condition and care; authorize negotiation of a stipulated placement in a secure sanctuary or other court-approved setting; and agree not to euthanize him while those cases are pending.
Please reply in writing with the County’s position.
I called Warren Petersen's office again. I have left messages regarding Snuggles. He is running for Atty General in Arizona. One phone call from him could free Snuggles. Phone 602-926-4136. Please call, we have to get Snuggles home!
@GoHawksFeathers Thats what happens when someome with a little biy of power let it go to their heads and instead of making them look SO important, it does the opposite. So I guess if people don't want to appear reasonable amd kind, then wish granted.
#SaveSnuggles. I wasn’t aware of this but was told today that the shelter where Snuggles is being held had an outbreak of Parvo months ago. We can not confirm if Snuggles is even ok bc they will not let the family see their dog or give the dog toys or gifts from Jennifer. In the #SaveLucy case the people watching Lucy took pics for @brendanmjones & let her have gifts. Why are these people putting this family thru unnecessary suffering? They aren’t criminals, they are a military family.
A month ago I was trying to help someone on another case involving crypto scammers & couldn’t even get a person who also has violent charges against him picked up even though he has a warrant out on him yet this dog bite case constitutes THIS much time & money? Pls keep #SaveSnuggles trending.
