π SNAKES! π
CMMC maintains ANAVIP antivenom on site. π¨
With warmer temperatures arriving earlier this year, snake activity is increasing across South Texas. Knowing what to do and what not to do can make a big difference.
β First Aid:
- If the snake can be safely identified, notify the ER so the team can prepare for possible antivenom.
- Even nonvenomous bites need proper wound care.
- Get a tetanus booster if it has been more than 10 years.
β οΈMyths to Avoid:
- Do not cut or suck the bite.
- Do not apply ice.
- Do not use alcohol.
- Do not use electric shocks.
- Do not use tourniquets or constriction bands.
Seek emergency care or call 911 for any snakebite.
On March 30, we recognize not only our own physicians, but every doctor who serves Wilson County and the surrounding areas.
Thank you for the care you provide, the lives you touch, and the hope you bring to our community.

Connally Memorial Medical Center has always been extremely proud to be part of the rich history of Wilson County. Our roots in local healthcare go back generations, having originally been established as the Wilson County Memorial Hospital District in 1960 to serve the families of rural South Texas.
That history is deeply connected to the legacy of John B. Connally Jr., the man for whom our healthcare system is named.
CMMC is proud to sponsor this banner as part of the Floresville Beautiful Association's "Foundations of Our Community Historical Banner Program" in downtown Floresville.
The banner shares the story of the leader whose name our medical center carries:
"John Bowden Connally Jr. (1917β1993) was born and raised near Floresville, Texas, where his early life in a farming community shaped his understanding of rural South Texas. In 1938, he served as the first Peanut Festival King with Miss Elizabeth Sheehy. After serving as a Navy officer in World War II, he rose in politics as a trusted aide to Lyndon B. Johnson. He went on to serve as Governor of Texas (1963β1969), Secretary of the Navy under President Kennedy and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under President Nixon. Connally also made a bid for the Republican presidential nomination. In 1963, Connally was wounded during President Kennedyβs assassination in Dallas. His broader legacy is one of leadership and public service, one that continues to be felt in his hometown today. The Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville stands as a lasting tribute to his deep ties to the community and his lifelong commitment to public service, linking his local roots to his statewide and national impact."
You can find our banner on the corner of C & 4th Street in Historic Downtown Floresville. We invite everyone to take a stroll through downtown to see our banner and the many others that celebrate the people and stories that shaped our community.
At CMMC, we are honored to continue serving the community that helped shape such an important part of Texas history, and we remain committed to caring for the people of Wilson County and surrounding areas today and for generations to come.
