Members of the Jenu Kuruba tribe told a global press conference on Monday that India may have freedom, but Adivasis don't as they relayed their battle to reoccupy ancestral land in Nagarhole tiger reserve on May 5th where they remain in a standoff with the forest authorities.
The tribals spoke of how important it is to live on their land as it is where their deities are and where their ancestors are buried. They are rebuilding their houses and vow to stay and even die on their land. They say they know how to conserve the forest much better than environmental NGOs do and it is, believe it or not, these NGOs pushing to displace them and remove them.
@ConnectCnapa held an online press briefing today to put across the issues Adivasis are facing.
