My favorite voting memory is opening the mail the day my NY pre-registration was approved. Although I couldn’t (and still can’t) vote yet, I knew that this was the first step toward being a more engaged participant in our democracy. #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
Q9: This election season will be unforgettable! What’s your favorite memory of doing voting work? Share a story or a picture or both! #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
A7: The same digital connections that our fantastic captains use to register their friends, coworkers, and family will apply to making sure that they actually cast their ballots! This includes texts, calls, and reminders up until E-Day. #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
Q6: What resources have you used to stay up to date with election changes, deadlines, and dates? Shout out an organization that helps you stay informed! #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
A5: Our wonderful captains will be equipped with the tools they need to share with and make sure their contacts are #VoteReady. For example, zip code specific voting laws, polling locations, vote by mail info, etc. #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
Q5: Getting #VoteReady looks different for every person. How are you helping educate your friends and peers on how to vote in upcoming elections? #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
A4: Vote so that YOUR voice will be heard at the local, state, and national level. In the age of active disenfranchisement and gerrymandering, it’s incredibly important to stand by candidates and policies that reflect your views at the ballot box. #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
Q4: Friends make sure friends vote, and the first step to doing that is registering to vote! What’s your quick pitch on why it’s important to register to vote? #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
A3: Unlike traditional canvassing or tabling in-person efforts, @ConnectTheVote was built for the digital age. Registering your friends and making sure they vote is as easy as sending a text message. #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
Q3: Due to COVID-19, many campus organizers can’t use traditional outreach events like tabling to inform and educate voters about elections. How have you adjusted your plan for providing voting information to students digitally? #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
A2: To us, #relationalorganizing means hearing, “Go vote!” from someone within your network, rather than from a stranger. This is the GOTV model we operate by and are aiming to prove is more effective, especially in marginalized and young communities, and especially during COVID.
A1: Connect The Vote by nature encourages more participation. Due to the branching out effect of our captain model, those who sign up to be a captain can enlist other impassioned voters who want to register their peers! #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
Q1: We know young people have the power to shape this Election, and we need everyone’s help! What are some ways your team is thinking about recruiting new people to join your organizing efforts? #WereStillOrganizing#SLSVChat
