1. How Islam stole knowledge from the Hindus and labelled it as their own. (Possible reasons why they burned all major libraries in India to obliterate such evidence.)
Excerpts from the book by Amit Agarwal, Swift Horses Sharp Swords. Long read alert.
Indian knowledge, specifically Hindu, proved to be a deep ocean of scholarship that was absorbed into Islamic knowledge, either by stealing or by natural adaptation and friendly exchange. The Islamic golden age, if it can be called one, in the 9th century, could not have come without Hindu knowledge. Islamic knowledge later slowly seeped into Europe when Arabs ruled over Spain and triggered the Renaissance in the 15th century. Hindus can very well claim that the foundation of all the scientific, philosophical, and medical knowledge floating around in the world today was laid by them.
When Arabs were trying to expand their empire in the 8th century in India, they came across the prevalent Hindu numeral system. They adopted it wholesomely after replacing their own rudimentary Arabic numeral system called abjad. In 773 CE, a few Hindu astronomers, the most prominent of whom was Kanka, arrived at the court of Caliph al-Mansur in Baghdad, quickening the process of adaptation of the Hindu numerical system in the Arabic world.
Al-Qifti, an Egyptian historian, stated in his book, "Chronology of the Scholars" (early 13th century) about the furious developments in Indian mathematics happening until the 8th century:
... a person from India presented himself before the Caliph al-Mansur in the year 776 who was well versed in the siddhanta method of calculation related to the movement of the heavenly bodies, and having ways of calculating equations based on the half-chord [essentially the sine] calculated in half-degrees ... Al-Mansur ordered this book to be translated into Arabic, and a work to be written, based on the translation, to give the Arabs a solid base for calculating the movements of the planets ...
According to Al-Beruni, an Arab historian, India had multiple forms of numerals in the medieval era, and "Arabs chose among them what appeared to them most useful." The first non-Indian reference to these numerals was made by Severus Sebokht, a bishop who lived in Mesopotamia about 650 CE. He noted the Hindu proficiency in astronomy, commenting, "As for their skillful methods of calculation and their computing, which belies description, they use only nine figures." Arabs named the system al-hisab al-hindi.
In 820 CE, the famous Persian mathematician al-Khwarizmi wrote the book "On the Calculation with Hindu Numerals," which was translated into Latin by Adelard of Bath (c. 1120) as Algoritmi de numero Indorum. When Al-Khwarizmi spread his numeral system to Europe, it transformed to the Arabic system from the Hindu numeral system. Persian astronomers al-Fazari and Yaqub ibn Tariq later published a book, "Zīj al-Sindhind"("astronomical tables of Siddhanta"), which contains calendrical and astronomical calculations as well as a table of sine values. This was the first of many Arabic Zijes based on the Indian astronomical methods known as the sindhind. They kept using Ujjain as the centre point of the earth, just like we use Greenwich Mean Time as the standard time nowadays. If they had the requisite knowledge and wisdom, they could have used Baghdad as the focal point.
Sita is the daughter of Mithila. Always has been. No argument of Bihari or Nepali nationalists can change this fact. The borders between India and Nepal that divide Mithila today was drawn 200 years ago. This 200 year old line cannot change 2000 years of history. Sita is Maithili
At Janakpur for @vimarshnepal event. When you get here you begin to experience the sense of loss all Maithili feel when politics divided a culture into two nations. Everything here feels your own.
Big difference - the way Janakpur and the people keep the city / pokhars clean.
Do you know why everyone from mullahs to Marxists hates #TheKeralaStory?
It is not because of the number. Whether 3 or 32,000, the number is irrelevant. Even ONE case like this is one case too much, because it is about the life of one woman and even THEY know it too.
They hate #thekeralastory because it exposes the inconvenient truth, that the desert cult is not just a way of worship. It is an expansionist military philosophy that believes in continuous recruitment.
The entire recruitment methodology has been shown in the movie with a devastating impact, how they prey on the emotionally vulnerable Hindus who neither know enough about their own religion to defend nor have read anything about other religions to question.
So each time a Hindu is asked an uncomfortable question, they either offer weak defenses or avoid answering the questions by smiling weakly. The other side then senses a chink in the armour and then they go at it relentlessly.
You don’t have to explain. You don’t have to defend. Your faith is for you to believe in, to practise, to propagate.
Yes, PROPAGATE!
Maybe not by shoving your book down anyone’s throat, but by being supremely secure in the way you are, by wearing the marks of your faith with pride, by asserting your practices at workspaces.
You want to do your Ekadasi upawas? Declare it with pride. You leave home after a small pooja and a Tilak on your forehead, do so with pride. You want to keep a small Murti of your Ishta Devta on your desk and offer flowers to it everyday, do it in everyone’s face. You have EVERY right to practise, preach and propagate your faith as the cults.
The same constitution that gives them the right to harvest your soul, gives YOU the right to hold on to it. Problem is, we only stop at practising, while THEY focus on preaching and propagating.
Next time someone asks you, ‘why do believe in a God with an elephant’s head’? Don’t get all defensive and start explaining about ‘how symbolic’ it all is, instead, look them in the eye and ask, ‘why do YOU believe that a man rode a white donkey to heaven and cleaved the moon into two’?
Next time they throw the term Sati at you, question THEM on the genocides they have committed in the name of their God of ‘love and peace’. Ask them about witch burnings, ask them about skull towers erected from the heads of ‘unbelievers’ to please the Sultan.
When they ask you about ‘caste discrimination’ ask them about the atrocities they committed on native populations worldwide, because they ‘looked different’.
When they throw the term ‘patriarchy’ at you, ask them if they truly believe that the first woman was ‘created’ from the first man’s rib. Remind them of their own ‘book’ that says a woman’s word is ‘worth half that of a man.’ Ask them about the sexual assaults on choir boys.
When they ask you about the destruction of that ONE dilapidated building in Ayodhya, question them on the 40,000 temples they have destroyed, ask them about inquisition.
In the spiritual Serengeti, when a herd of elephants is surrounded by a pride of lions on one side and a pack of hyenas on the other, the elephants cannot afford to graze peacefully, unaware of the threat. The strongest elephants in the herd need to be secure in their strength and fight.
Otherwise, it is always the weakest of the herd that gets hunted, the calves and the sick ones!

Only 2 types of people can have sympathy for Lalu, either they're unaware of Bihar's condition under his rule or being paid by him.
Lalu & his family is responsible for thousands of murd€rs, rap€s, kidnappings, scams and ruining Bihar & the future of Bihari youths..
Mithila has fertile soil, no shortage of water, no dearth of IT professionals, skilled and unskilled workforce and now Mithila has road & airport infra.
Despite all this, why is Mithilanchal the most backward region of India ?
One main reason is the centralisation of politics.
Have seen many articles on choice of the “Shaligram” rocks for the idol of Shree Ram.
However, this article by @savitajha_jnu prevents an entirely new perspective - bringing Sita into the story & positioning the eternal conjugality of SiyaRam at the same level as Radha-Krishna.
In 1934 an 8.0 magnitude earthquake shattered parts of Nepal and India. Among the worst affected was Northern Bihar. From the horrors of the region, however, a British Civil Servant spotted something magical. A thread on how Mithila art came to light. 1/19
