I visited the Ray Harryhausen exhibit at the @museumofminis in Tucson this weekend, and seeing the working models of the images that so delighted the young me decades ago was an absolute treat. These four pics just scratch the surface of this fantastic and fascinating showcase.

@horrormuseum Visited with the Kraken and other members of Ray Harryhausen’s Dynamation family at the Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures in Tucson, AZ. Show runs through May 3rd, 2026.
All of us at the Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation were deeply saddened by the passing of artist and actor Mark Redfield.
A good friend of the Foundation, Mark had paid tribute to Ray’s work with 2017 audio play ‘Sinbad and the Pirate Princess’, starring former Harryhausen actresses Caroline Munro and Martine Beswick. Mark also spoke with Ray’s daughter Vanessa Harryhausen and collections manager @ConnorHeaney86 during the Dynamation Celebration in 2019- listen to his podcast interview below:

Mark was a multitalented creator who produced a number of notable audio dramas alongside his acting credits and artistic works, all of which can be found through his social media pages: @RedfieldStudios
Our thoughts are with Mark’s family and friends at this sad time. He will be missed.

Happy 85th birthday to Jim Danforth, the legendary stop-motion animator who assisted Ray on ‘Clash of the Titans’ (1981).
Ray had known Jim for 20 years since meeting him on the set of ‘7th Voyage of Sinbad’, and was his first choice as assistant when it became clear that the amount of animation required for his final film would be too much work for one pair of hands. Aside from animating many of the Pegasus scenes in ‘Clash’, Jim was responsible for the animation in such classics as ‘When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth’ and ‘7 Faces of Dr. Lao’.
Many happy returns, Jim!

Vodcast Episode 19 features an entertaining conversation with Andy Gent, director of London-based Arch Model Studio
https://t.co/Hsjq29pH7B
Best known for creating the puppets and animation for classic films such as ‘Isle of Dogs’ and ‘The Fantastic Mr Fox’, the studio were presented with the inaugural Ray Harryhausen Award for ‘Best Commercial Film Animation’ in 2022. Their short feature ‘Save Ralph’ saw thought-provoking exploration of animal testing and vivisection, featuring the voice talents of Ricky Gervais and Taika Waititi.
Andy discusses his history as a Harryhausen fan, and his later encounters with Ray. He explains to hosts @walshbros & @ConnorHeaney86 how Ray’s work has gone on to influence and inspire his own career, as well as the ongoing legacy that the stop-motion master’s work has left upon the wider industry.
Many thanks to Andy for taking part in the show! For more information on Arch Model Studio, see:
