Always have some extensions up your sleeve though. My go to is: "Can you make me a question like this, that is harder". Then get them to solve in pairs #MTTSChat

Get some ideas from low, mid and high attainers, then let them go back to it. Again, careful seating so that if they get stuck as a pair, they can get help from those around them. #MTTSChat

@MrWarnerMaths @Beamathsteacher That's a good question. I think if you work in a school that does go towards setting at GCSE, having a Y9 that heads in that direction can work. I'm still undecided on this one. #MTTSChat

@BeckyHaestier @Beamathsteacher @mixedattainmen1 @HelenHindle1 Tricky one! It's an art, not a science. I'm trialling pairs of similar ability at the moment, but have tried opposite pairs as well. There is lots of theories about how it should be done but I'm still not convinced I'm there yet. #MTTSChat

'Open Middle' maths (google it) and increasingly difficult questions are definitely some of my favourite things to use. Lots of class discussions are great, and careful pairing on your seating plan. #MTTSChat
