@KyleKulinski I will fight alongside you on that hill. I want distinct holidays back instead of this cronenburg commercial conglomerate “holiday season” that lasts from early October until New Years Day
@OnlineDayton @NPR You sound like a Hannity/Carlson talking point generator. I don’t think Biden is any messiah but you gotta come with facts and evidence to support this. This vapid thinking is just as bad as those orange man bad people on the left without coherent evidence for their statements
@AdamInHTownTX@MattHaneySF I’m really confused as to how it’s unconstitutional? There are several proposals to cover it like the Wall Street transaction tax. Another point is that it’s not the principle that’s crippling people. It’s overwhelming interest that profits off people trying to get an education
@cshudelston @IAMLEONESQUIRE @MattHaneySF You realize that’s how taxation works right? The top 1% have more than the bottom 90% and they are constantly the beneficiaries of right wing tax policy. The whole point of debt forgiveness is to try to give more people opportunities to contribute. Greater collective good.
@BaseballPled@johniadarola It’s that level of self aggrandizing egocentrism masquerading as sanctimonious libertarian individualism that’s the reason the US has failed with Covid. Guidelines and regulations for the collective good are not an infringement on your individual rights you self centered ass
@CoriBush@AOC I’ve seen a few people allude to it but it’s sad to think that’s probably the first time they’ve said her name, consciously or not. Your tweet is sad but encouraging. Those conversations are long overdue. All the best Congresswoman Bush!
@jasonfurman Even if forgiveness was taxable wouldn’t pay the taxes on it be more manageable than the unreasonable interest rates many student loan debts accrue? This is an honest question, but it seems like the tax argument doesn’t hold up to long term benefits of forgiveness
@rohangrey@People4Bernie If it weren’t so gross and harmful, the flowery veiled bs talking points about fiscal discipline would be exhausting they’re so predictable. It’s just infuriating reading these people talking about propping up institutions that caused the problem while spitting on those most hurt
@originunknown42@johniadarola This is such an interesting idea. I’d be interested to see the avenues to pursue this honestly. I know libel cases against public officials are hard to win but this proposal seems like a different situation. Curious
@RubyMelodyMusic @johniadarola I appreciate your rationalization in the chaos that is this situation, but republicans haven’t had a new idea since the 80s. And that’s being generous. Don’t get me wrong, corporate democrats are pretty much just as bad. But that’s why we can’t let the drag the party more right.
@johniadarola My most conservative guess would be as long as it takes for him to wring every drop of cash from delusional MAGA so he can use the money for paying campaign debt and building up his legal defense funds for the shitstorm that should hit him after Jan 21. Grifters gonna grift 🤷♂️
@DamonLinker It’s not like this line of thinking doesn’t make sense from a purely individual perspective. But the economic benefit for everyone in the long term can’t be ignored. Paying for it with a stock transaction tax and allowing more people to break into the middle class could be good.
