any time you critique an oppressive system, people come to you demanding a perfectly articulated step-by-step plan for creating a flawless alternative system, today. as if the system we are currently locked inside of were meticulously designed from the top down. it wasn't.
If you feel the need to frantically perform truth and reconciliation this week - don't.
Fulfill the responsibility of listening, sit with the discomfort of your ignorance and inaction, and let it inspire you to never feel this way again.
I logged off of this Twitter account for March Break 2020 (remember March 2020?) and totally missed that I was tagged in this. So, ya, I wrote a thing...

Today, in Grade 11 Food and Culture, we concluded our final unit on spices and flavours by making Dal. It both smelled and tasted delicious. @LakeheadSchools@LPS_Westgate
I missed a month of school due the ‘97 strike and Ice Storm ‘98. Strikes don’t “hurt kids” - short sighted education policies do. Your plan means fewer electives, fewer teacher and SSP supports, more split classes and larger class sizes. In a tango @Sflecce, someone has to lead.
The grade 11 Food and Culture classes @LPS_Westgate have been learning about regional foods, so what did we decide to make? These guys rocked Nanaimo Bars!
It’s a busy night in the @LPS_Westgate kitchen. Ms. Ciddio’s SHSM students, along with a group of eager student volunteers, are getting set for Achievement Night!
And the winner is... the Cinnamon Rolls! This group also served up pumpkin hot chocolate. I’m SO proud of everyone. They surpassed my expectations in their originality, time management and, yep, taste!
The pumpkin dishes cooked in the @LPS_Westgate kitchen today included: Pumpkin Shepard’s Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Muffins. Judges weighed in. We will know the results tomorrow.

In Grade 10 Foods and Nutrition @LPS_Westgate , we have been exploring the nutrient dense pumpkin. Yesterday, we cooked and puréed pumpkins. Today, each group prepped a recipe. Tomorrow, our creations will be judged. Guesses on what they made? #LPStb
With the baked beef bones, we made a broth (with added onions and root vegetables from our own garden). When combined with local butter, flour, it made a nice gravy for our locally sourced poutine. @LPS_Westgate#LPStb
