A couple of spring specialties here this morning. Today started off with a stunning male Wheatear followed by a fleeting glimpse of Ring Ouzel.
Two firsts for the year!

A Chiffchaff with a Spanish accent.
Brilliant to catch this little Iberian Chiffchaff near home today, certainly a treat and life tick!
Also plenty of Willow Warbler around.

Brilliant walk in Aylestone Meadows this morning, finally got a chance to come back! 41 bird species, including a pair of Green Woodpeckers, beautiful Cormorants, endless birdsong and 2 very shy female Goosanders!!
This poor kid (Enviro Kid) donated his BIRTHDAY MONEY so more #trees could be planted at his local Net Park, only to find that @DurhamCouncil are decimating his local patch! @DurhamCouncil what justification do you have and what an example to set! ๐ก Please share & help him๐
Prioritising individual animal welfare can clash with conserving whole species and can risk negative outcomes for biodiversity conservation. An open letter to animal rights folks. Thread ๐
@BeidaiheBirder Really should be doing better. So used to woodcock and snipe being mislabeled by hunters, but not a national trust doing something like this ๐ The rot is deeper than I realised if these guys are also getting it wrong
@BeidaiheBirder @georgecmcgavin It is sad. Iโve now been in England for 3 years; I sometimes cannot believe how filthy and disrespected nature is in this country! Badger baiting, fox hunting, BBQs etc. Especially when I compare it to my home in The Netherlands! Heartbreaking ๐ (No offense ๐คทโโ๏ธ )
@BeidaiheBirder Honestly just no words. Really hope these people get caught. Iโm worried about the impact thisโll have on the local biodiversity. How much of the bushes and reeds were burned?
