I'm looking for a new LED light source for my microsocope set up. It has been a long time since I last looked in to this having had a Burnel cold light source for many years but which has died. Anyone with any reommcnedation for alternatives?
@FryRsquared I see you are on x as much as I am so this is a long shot, but….do you do ‘old school ‘ signed photos? It’s my best mate’s 50th and you are his fave TV scientist (don’t tell Brian!) sooo, any chance of a signed photo Hannah? If you see this, please message me. A.

Hi all, I'm seeking some advice from the hive mind. Does anyone have any experience of solar-powered irrigation systems or any irrigation systems for that matter. Any practical advice on reliable systems, dos-don'ts etc.. very welcomed.
@GWandShows
@RachelReevesMP Pitiful @UKLabour sinking deep in to the tory playbook of blaming environmental protection for all manner of problems from lack of housing to development overspend. You know full well delays and overspend have nothing to do with ecology. Shame. https://t.co/ZBL3MO6Iii.
Dave and Ellie will be on the BDS stand again this year and will be happy to tell you more about Chartley Moss SSSI and its important white-faced darters.
@sisf is a FREE event run by Staffordshire Invertebrate Group. It is on Saturday March 1st Staffordshire University.
You can find more about the Staffordshire Invertebrate Science Fair on our page. It is a free invertebrate conservation event hosted at Staffordshire University and run by @StaffsInverts . It is on Saturday March 1st. Perfect for all ages and levels of interest.
Staffordshire is home to one of the scarcest of all the dragonflies, the white-faced darter. It is so scarce that reintroductions have taken place to former sites in Cheshire to try to support the declining species.
It can be found in Staffordshire at Chartley Moss SSSI.
As wood ants become increasingly rare, there R things we can do. 1 is actually move nests from sites with strong populations & (re-)introduce them to other suitable woods. @ConopsEnto did just this.
Moving wood ants is tried and tested. Need to consider this in Staffs.
Loads going on again at this year's @SISF_2025. Some fab talks and all the usual stalls and societies in attendance. Nice to have a few new societies and faces coming too to keep growing and evolving the event. Saturday March 1st, @staffsuni and hosted by @StaffsInverts.
Not long now B4 wood ants wake up & cluster on top of their nests 2 warm up in the early spring sunshine.Staffs holds a regionally important population of these scarce ants.U can find them at just 3 sites in Staffs, 1 is @CannockChaseNL who'll B @SISF_2025 this year.
1 of the most rewarding parts of being an invertebrate ecologist is helping create new habitat for species. Here is a site @ConopsEnto advised on 2 help rare dingy skipper butterflies. There is now a thriving colony of the species using this new site.
