Sony, and every studio that refused to speak up—your silence is loud.
Gamers asked for answers. Instead, you chose silence.
We don't want empty marketing.
We don't want forced digital-only.
We want the freedom to own the games we buy.

@DaedraSlayer4 People are incredibly uncreative. It is frankly sad. They have the whole internet at their finger tips and they use those insults. Maybe they should push their cuticles back with a screwdriver. 😖😆😂
@DaedraSlayer4 True facts. But, it is good to have you back! It is crazy the amount of fake ass people you discover if you "making it big" in any social media. They are parasites for real. Some crazy shit happening in the gaming world too. 😆
A new report claims Sony caught many publishers, retailers, and business partners off guard with its decision to stop making physical PlayStation games in 2028.
According to the report, many partners only learned of it after Sony made the announcement public.
One executive at a major AAA publisher said
“Despite our seemingly close working relationship with PlayStation, we weren’t informed that this was happening.” “It’s only hitting us now that we may be out of jobs sooner rather than later.”
The report says talks between Sony and its partners have been tense since the announcement. Some companies are frustrated by how the decision was handled, and in countries like India, it has disrupted plans to expand PlayStation retail stores.
@arrgee07 To be fair lay offs have been coming pretty frequently. Not saying it is a good thing, but as of late it is pretty normal since all companies hired way too many people during covid. As for the Sony thing, that can and will destroy multiple industries and also customer rights.
I don't want to continually keep getting into this but.. here we go again.
Yes, you're on PS's software and if PS wants to nuke your account or take your games the way they took 500 movies from users in the UK, they can.
But what if a motherfucker just wants to have their game on disc regardless?! 😂😂
At its core the conversation is about us needing OWNERSHIP - SOME valid form of it where PS or EA or whoever else can't just wake up one day and jack our shit.
^ ALL GOOD SO FAR, WE GOT IT, BUD. WE KNOW THIS lol but why is it that we're going "you never owned it on disc anyway"? What purpose does this serve?
And now to your point. You're not even correct. I technically have more "ownership" with a disc than you do with a digital copy - except for the case of the dude at home cracking software and putting it in a hard-drive (or buying from GoG in the case of the games they have there)
But on Console, and even in relation with Steam - if we're on the same level playing-field we are at right now, where both our digital copies and our physical installs are technically "licenses" - I can still take my physical copy to a store and sell it.
"Ah but Dez if Playstation nukes the game's license, you can't sell it anymore"
^ Yeah but this a far more accelerated situation in which a lot more would be on fire than my ability to take a game to a store.
Like, physical versions of games - regardless of if they're tied to an OS with DRM or not (which by the way does not apply to every single PS5 game. Some run regardless, but yes the point is they'll likely be doing more DRM in the future)
^-- Physical games aren't just about OWNERSHIP. They're also about keeping game prices manageable, game collection, alternatives stores to stave away monopolization, the used market so many younger people make dire use of because 70-80 dollars for a new game is fucking insane, etc.
So again.
No, people aren't too dumb to get the concept of a game license... You're just too close-minded to understand what everyone ELSE is talking about.
I understand being latched to PC for decades will shut someone out completely from this whole side of things - especially when PC has Steam sales and other alternatives already where younger people can get games much cheaper...
I've been ping-ponging between PC and Console for years so I know what it's like to be on both - I have a taste for having my own library and I also know what it was like to not have much money for games on BOTH sides.
For PC I only bought games during steam sales and occasionally checked websites like G2A. For Console, I used big holiday store sales (physical stores ofc) and used stores to save some cash.
Ownership is something both avenues need even if physical purchases are a bit more niche- which honestly I don't even know if it true because apparently numbers of digital purchases are taken with addition of PC platform and DLCs, which, duh. Are digital-only so it doesn't really have an alternative to compare with.
But that's a whole other thing.
It’s been almost 6 days since this despicable and disrespectful announcement🚀
The only acceptable response is:
✅Overturning the decision and continuing PS3/Vita store and physical games for PS5 and PS6
✅Firing their CEOs because we have absolutely zero trust in them
✅A sincere apology and enhancement of the quality of PS+ Classic library
