Well, thank you @MissDenko @KReynolds13@JaneHutch16 @missmatticks for your time and participation. Until next #robbinsvillek12 Twitter chat! Keep warm everyone!
@JaneHutch16 are you familiar with Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” (AMA). Wouldn’t it be interesting to connect a #robbinsvillek12 with a class from another country to learn how same-aged kids are similar yet different? Imagine the possibilities!
… and sources, evaluate
findings and present possible solutions, using digital tools and online resources for all steps. That’s a fairly robust standard for the 6th - 8th grade. How ca we start to use tech to bridge us with the global? #robbinsvillek12
It gets interesting when you look at grade level strands. 8.1.5.C.1 Engage in online discussions with learners of other cultures to investigate a worldwide issues from multiple perspectives… #robbinsvillek12
… 8.1 Educational Technology: All students will use digital tools to access, manage, evaluate, and synthesize
information in order to solve problems individually and collaborate and to create and communicate knowledge. #robbinsvillek12
Has anyone read through the "New Jersey Core Curriculum” (not to be confused with COMMON core) standards for technology? Check out standard 8.1… #robbinsvillek12
Last question of the evening! Outside of looking back, let’s turn out sights forward to the future. Q2: How can we encourage our students to become Informed & Involved Citizens? Feel free to blend Q1 and Q2 in your response. #robbinsvillek12
Does anyone have an example to share? @JaneHutch16 I remember PRMS doing several donation drives, such as pulling together to send ed. supplies to Hurricane Katrina victims. #robbinsvillek12
Okie… this week we are thinking about “Informed & Involved Citizens.” SO let’s start out with Q1: What are characteristics of an Informed & Involved Citizen? #robbinsvillek12
I need to reset my goal. This year I want to become proficient in programming Java so I can provide ed. opportunities for my students who already started to learn. I'm inspired by numerous, high-quality online resources & the diverse learning needs of students. #robbinsvillek12
My goal last year was to start producing educational YouTube videos that I could use to flip the classroom in teaching coding to kids. I became dismayed by the time investment to produce one vid. I give major credit to amateur vloggers. #robbinsvillek12
Before we get started… would anyone like to share your professional New Year’s resolution? You can go by either the 2018 calendar year, or sights you have set for the 2018/2019 academic year. #robbinsvillek12
@JaneHutch16 and I will be hosting the chat this evening. I’m Joe… a middle school computer teacher. I teach modern day information literacy and introduction to coding/computational thinking via MIT Scratch. #robbinsvillek12
