Hello Bitcoiners,
Forming consensus in a growing network is no trivial matter. 1 min blocks - yay or nay?
So we're here to help! Have your say today, or just check the vibe: https://t.co/96UvexaH5S
Shoutout @zndtoshi for the original inspo. Maybe now you can learn from us?
Very rare footage: @TheBCHPodcast@GeukensMathieu, @EmergentReasons & @TheElliotPrice discuss https://t.co/XhOVBMZ7dh at the original @bchbliss in **May 2024**!!
Better consensus forming visualisation, education & debate has been needed for a while.
We're here to provide it.
https://t.co/XhOVBMZ7dh v1.2 released - new mild Stances Interested & Concerned, plus some clarifications and UI improvements.
A larger (but ofc slower) update is being prepared to address substantive feedback about Twitter counting & inaccurate representation of CHIP process.
Pleased to see strong engagement & interest in our MVP! A lot of initial feedback has already been implemented, see attached Changelog.
The main outstanding concern appears to be relevance/weighting of Twitter followers. The next version will address this.
Stay tuned.
To be clear:
- @ConsensusCash explains on the site that CHIP is NOT a vote, nor comprehensive. It's voluntary to participate, non-authoritative & individuals can assess the data as they choose.
- The site already has an "Equal sizing filter", and many other filters. Individuals can adjust the data whichever way they wish to observe sentiment.
- As mentioned in the announcement, Twitter follower scaling is just the MVP. Future iterations will have NFT reputation systems, BCH coin locking or perhaps something else. I am all ears if @im_uname has suggestions for the site in any way. Probably the best thing is just to make any semi relevant metrics visible & let the users debate or decide for themselves what matters.
- The inspiration https://t.co/nqLOsTCFM9 worked quite nicely based on Twitter followers just as a first pass. It's not perfect, but as has been observed many times CHIP is an influence-weighted system by default and this is simply a rough first approximation.
- I don't see how it is better for the CHIP process for us all to be in the confused dark until endorsements either suddenly arrive at the last second or don't.
For fans of the CHIP process, I hope they will be able to see that this is simply the existing endorsements process but surfaced for public consideration sooner by being lighter weight and easier to visualise. For the next CHIP cycle, it will be available for the entire 12 months with snapshots so that insight into the evolving debate is visible over time.
The goal of forming consensus is to observe strong alignment. This tool is simply one way for us to have better information to discuss in that regard.
I hope critics will see its utility and prudence in time. Once more, I'd like to emphasize this is an MVP and I am open to any and all feedback.
