The global battle for crypto talent and investment is shifting away from the US, but it’s not too late for the U.S. to regain its footing and retake the lead.

I wrote an op-ed for @blockworks : the #EU's approach to #AML in the peer-to-peer space may meaningfully undermine its goals of becoming a global crypto hub.
One lead proposal is akin to taking a car, removing its engine, and fastening a team of horses to prevent speeding.
📢 We are aware of tweets circulating with inaccurate information about ConsenSys' terms of service.
Let's clarify one thing upfront: MetaMask does NOT collect taxes on crypto transactions and we have not made any changes to our terms to do so.
This claim is false.
We say there are rules. But we can’t tell you how they are applied or how to comply. We’ll consider it…forever. In the meantime, we will aggressively enforce those rules arbitrarily both in substance and form.
This follows our prior (link below) staking post, as part of our series I unofficially call "the facts matter." This time, dispelling notions Ethereum is controlled by a small group of developers. Take a look and understand how Ethereum works!

This bipartisan bill is precisely how Europe and the UK are doing it - getting organized and taking the time to properly study crypto before prescribing AML/CFT rules.
A good altern. to Warren/Marshall's dystopian and illegal surveillance approach.

In 2014, with the advent of a new asset incompatible with existing laws, the SEC published new rules for asset backed securities. In 2023, the SEC refuses to answer a petition for similar rulemaking. What changed? One doesn't rely on clinging to incumbent intermediaries 🤔?
🚨🚨🚨Reports from #CapitolHill are that Sen. Warren is pushing her #crypto AML bill before its introduction next week. It's time to rally in opposition to this remarkably bad legislation that purports to serve national interests but is really about killing crypto in the US. 1/3

"we're authorized to tell our position but not our position but not publicly but maybe privately but it is but maybe it isn't but maybe it has indicia"
Unless you are analyzing unique programs and/or trying to grandstand for talking points, the analysis for staking simply isn't that difficult if everyone takes a minute to actually understand what staking is and how it happens. Paying a provider for service is not "investment."
Narratives are detached from reality. @BillHughesDC and I put our heads together to help simplify staking so people (including regulators) can be educated and grounded in understanding the state of the current universe. Please, read, share etc.

Last night in Illinois, a bill advanced that would make unlicensed “digital asset business activity” (i.e., most blockchain activities) a felony.
If the House passes the bill, it could become law in a matter of weeks.
Alliance opposes the Digital Assets Regulation Act (DARA).
To be clear, staking enables more people to participate in building the next generation of the internet.
@GaryGensler’s regulatory purgatory strategy hurts everyday Americans the most - leaving them in the dust while these opportunities are accessible offshore.
🇬🇧🚨🚨🚨HM Treasury of the United Kingdom published its much anticipated consultation on cryptoasset regulation. The plans seek to regulate a broad range of cryptoasset activities.
TLDR: generally👍

Here's 400 regulated ETF Apps: Denied.
Here's a regulated bank: Denied.
Markets mature from the establishment of more popular regulated players. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy by the administration at this point.
