Xenocarcinus tuberculatus, a #WhipCoralCrab lives in a #commensal #symbiotic relationship with this #BlackCoral 🏠

These crabs can be hard to spot, but this one was a relatively easy find on this #coralhost! They are believed to feed on detritus trapped on their #whipcoral host.

Although scleractinian (hard) corals are usually easy to ID due to their hard skeletons, sometimes they trick us with extended soft tentacles!
Want to know how to tell them apart?
