@JeremyDoku a 100% raison.
We should not lose sight of their role of bisschops within the fraternity. Their role is primarily sacramental. Ordination of priests, confirmations and blessing of the holy chrism. They don't have the responsibility of a diocese. Hence the pastoral dimension is likely less important in their selection.
@Franco7T7@AuditeInsulae I was at a Sung High Mass just yesterday (1955 missal). I am 100% with you that a lot has been lost and that is why I go to TLM whenever I can.
@JeremAlph@AuditeInsulae My parents raised me in Novus Ordo and led me to faith. I searched and found my way to tradition at a later age. But the spark came from my parents and I am very grateful to them. God works in mysterious ways. Don't forget the parabola about the workers of the 11th hour 😉.
I agree with you that when going to mass, we should wear appropriate clothing. But fashion changes. Everybody is wearing sneakers today (I don't) and in the past all men were wearing suits and ties. Let me ask you this. If I am on holidays visiting a city and I pass by a church when a mass is just starting: should I refrain from attending because I am wearing casual wear, or should I see this as an invitation from providence and attend ?
It is a topic I sometimes debate around with my SSPX priest. In my view a Novus Ordo mass that is properly done is a real mass. There is transubstantiation and there have been many Eucharistic miracles within the Novus Ordo that prove it. So, whenever I can't go to a traditional mass, I will go to a Novus Ordo one, even if my personal spirituality and sensitivity is much more aligned with the TLM.
When Adam and Eve sinned, they insulted God and this insult had to be atoned for. Mankind had to make amends for that insult, but no man could, by nature. repair the offense to God. The only worthy reparation could be done by God Himself. That is why Jesus, who is both man and God, was the only one, who, by his sacrifice, could repair the insult made to God by mankind.
If I am not mistaken, there is a difference in opinion between the Catholics and the Orthodox regarding the person of the Trinity who transsubstantiates the bread and wine. Catholics believe it is Jesus himself and Orthodox believe it is the Holy Spirit. An Eucharistic miracle in Lourdes in 1999 that happened on live TV (which can be found on YouTube) appears to give credence to the opinion of the Orthodox.
@ChristineNiles1 If the point of DDF was to reduce confusion with its document, it seems to have missed its objective and even to have completely backfired when I read the many, many threads on X on this topic.
