Rezero Season 4 Episode 13 Light Novel Cut Content:

• After learning his party is filled with "old ladies", Subaru states that Emilia's age makes sense since she's a half-elf. She asks him if he's not scared of her and he replies with "if we're talking scary, then you are scary cute" and she blushes. Once again, not super relevant, but almost every wholesome interaction between the two is cut.

• Before the "motivational speech", Subaru says that because he has no memories and no emotional baggage he can be blunt with Julius. I like that Subaru acknowledges the awkwardness between the two and manages to turn it into a positive.

• The comedic bit where Subaru assigns everyone a role is in the novel, but that's not why he's tasked with Reid's book. They still don't know what caused Subaru's amnesia and the Books of the Dead are the most likely culprit. They decide it's safer for Subaru to read one than risk someone else losing their memories too.

• There's a very short and powerful bit of Subaru's monologue after Louis mentions his parents. He hopes that he was reincarnated instead of summoned into this world because he doesn't want his parents to keep searching for him forever. He would rather be dead in his original world if that could lessen their pain. A lot to unpack here...

• Subaru is very confused by Louis and asks if she's God, which she denies. He's further confused by Od Lagna and calls it a "nasty God" and Louis also denies this. She says it's not a God, but a "mechanism" where everything is "fair and unbiased".

• Louis is even more manipulative in the novel. At one point she even says that because she took away the memories of the previous Natsuki Subaru and created the current Natsuki Subaru, she is technically his mother. (huh?)

• Subaru's conflicted mental state is explored deeper with his monologue and narration. "Subaru had been shit at life." "Why do I have to lose it? Why, when I just realized I love her?"

• The purple light that appeared in Subaru's chest is described as the seed of Greed blooming and Subaru says out loud "Come, Cor Leonis". It's WILD to me that they cut this, I remember being so hyped reading it for the first time. Yes, you can see the constellation behind him in the anime, but I doubt most anime-onlies picked up that Subaru now has the Authority of Greed. I really hope they explain this better in the next episodes...

• Subaru has "better" disses in the novel, telling Louis to get a haircut and to wear some braces. It's juvenile, but it got a chuckle out of me.

El director de la CUARTA temporada de Re:ZERO, Masahiro Shinohara, compartió una versión sin desenfoque de la escena de Rem del episodio 13.

El director explicó que decidió mostrar nuevamente la escena porque las lágrimas de Subaru impedían apreciar claramente a Rem durante el episodio.

From what I’m understanding, the reason REM was able to manifest inside the hall of memories & talk to Subaru is because Rui as seen in the flashback, disregarded REM’s memories in a form of a blue ball because she was being consumed by REM’s overwhelming love towards Subaru.
