He viewed the traditionalists defending their faith and heritage as obstacles to a modern, secular, and inevitably degenerate future; the very future that has culminated in the flat, anti-White, and anti-Christian regime one faces today.
The “Hemingway myth” (the hard-drinking, globe-trotting, ultra-masculine adventurer) is a fiction and a rather well-curated one. Strip away the prose and you find a man who was deeply committed to the modern project of tearing down Christendom. His literary style, while undoubtedly talented, served to sentimentalize the betrayal of his own heritage. He helped craft the narrative that to be “modern” and “manly” required shedding one’s allegiance to the old order and participating in the secular, revolutionary fire.
Just as Orwell is the mascot for the mid-wit who worries about “surveillance,” Hemingway is the mascot for the man who wants to pretend he is an “authentic hero” while ignoring the rot in his own backyard. Both men were collaborators in the cultural revolution that dismantled the so-called West. They were no defenders of truth, those men. They were participants in the great displacement. They chose the side that burned cathedrals and called it “liberation,” and they were rightfully rewarded by the establishment with a permanent place in the canon to distract us from the fact that they were cultural wrecking crews.
The constant invocation of “Orwellian” by mid-wit pundits has become a substitute for actual political analysis.
They treat 1984 as a holy text to be cryptically referenced rather than acknowledging that the man who wrote it spent his formative years as a willing pawn for the very forces currently dismantling Western civilization.
Now, about the fundamental hypocrisy of the “anti-fascism” movement. During the Spanish Civil War, Orwell participated. He fought for the POUM, a Marxist faction that was deeply entangled with the Soviet-backed Republican cause. What cause? The one characterized by the systemic destruction of the Catholic Church, the slaughter of clergy, and the imposition of a revolutionary terror that sought to eradicate the traditional, organic order of Spain.
The Western narrative sanitizes Orwell as a “truth-teller,” but he was a man who romanticized the “Red” terror as a noble struggle against fascism. He was only disillusioned when he realized the Bolsheviks were just as comfortable purging their own useful idiots as they were their right-wing enemies. He didn’t turn against the Left because he had a change of heart regarding the destruction of Christian tradition, did he. He turned against them because they failed to uphold the specific brand of revolutionary socialism he preferred.
And so, I am not wrong. In fact, it it high time to identify the exact type of intellectual rot that plagues our current discourse. We are meant to look at a man who burned churches in the name of progress and treat his observations on “authoritarianism” as the height of wisdom. Well I say: A calculated distraction. The people who love to quote Orwell are quoting a man who helped set the foundation for the modern, secular, anti-traditional nightmare we live in today. They obsess over 1984 while ignoring that the spirit of the Barcelona burning pits is the true heritage of the cause Orwell supported.
Ignoring Orwell (and the empty, aesthetic “anti-fascism” he championed) is a necessary step in detaching our movement from the intellectual paradigms of our enemies. The feeble-minded and the sold-out ones love Orwell because he is the patron saint of the “liberal socialist against the slightly-more-totalitarian socialist” squabble, a framing that excludes the only path with any substance: the restoration of Christian sovereignty and the survival of our people.
