🪓 @KosSamaras takes an axe to the overblown scare campaign surrounding the Albanese Government's budget.

As Kos puts it, no one is rushing into bat for the aged care worker in the outer suburbs who hasn't seen a significant pay rise in years: "They don't have lobby groups. They don't dominate talkback radio. They don't have columnists writing for them."
But these voters have found a way to be heard. Some are sticking with Labor. Others are drifting to One Nation.

Kos's warning? Labor cannot afford to waver. If it backs away from delivering for these voters, they'll make their anger felt at the ballot box.

Australia is replacing coal and gas power with solar and wind—

At the turn of the millennium, Australia got more than 80% of its electricity from coal. This has dropped to less than 45%.

The chart shows how the country’s electricity mix has changed in recent decades.

In the 2000s and early 2010s, coal was initially replaced by gas, with only moderate growth in solar and wind. But in the last five years, solar and wind have been deployed much more quickly.

Gas is now on the decline, too. In 2023, solar overtook gas to become Australia’s second-largest electricity source.

While coal is declining, it still supplies much more of Australia’s power than most high-income countries.

Let’s stick to the actual facts instead of relying on a scripted scare campaign.

1. Passing legislation with a majority isn't 'ramming', it's democracy.

The government was democratically elected by the Australian people to enact policy. Passing a bill because you have the parliamentary numbers to do so isn't a 'dirty trick'; it is literally how a majority government functions under our constitution.

2. There is no 'death tax'.

He even wouldn't say there was, he just slipped in "They're even looking at taxing the dead" - NO. THEY. ARE. NOT. Which is why the oversensitive cooker wouldn't actually state it as a fact, because it's not

3. This isn't a 'tax grab', it is structural tax relief for the majority of Australians.

To claim Labor voted for 'higher taxes' is flatly false for the vast majority of Australians. What actually happened is that the government delivered tax cuts for average, middle-income workers who need cost-of-living relief right now.

To pay for this responsibly, they levelled the playing field by scaling back the massive, taxpayer-funded discounts and loopholes previously enjoyed by high-income earners and ultra-wealthy investors.

If you are calling a tax cut for average families a 'tax grab' just because the wealthiest 10% finally have to pay their fair share, you aren't defending Australians, you're defending privilege."
