@irl1hke@kaiyumi42 Ya, I know its his money, he can do what he wants. But I'm sure there are better causes to donate to, like mercy malaysia, or local animal shelters.
@resurgednow Is it true that soldiers who returned from the war were looked down upon and seen as cowardly? I saw photos of crippled soldiers begging in the streets. Did the government and military just pretended they didn't exist?
@flyingtiger996@peopledailyJP I agree fully. I feel angry when I read that war criminals from Unit 731 were protected by the US. Many imperial family members were let off the hook too! Justice was never fully served.
@mitaka_for_sure@uncleTomat0 Ah I see. Imperial Japan invaded Malaysia (then Malaya) for resources like tin (can see the notice I attached) and rubber. They did build a railway, but it involved many deaths, abuse, and rape. They also use divide and conquer, so some may say, "Imperial Japan wasn't that bad".
@mitaka_for_sure@uncleTomat0 I have seen the video of Lai Ching Te gloss over Imperial Japan & Co Prosperity Sphere. I can't believe someone will say that aloud! Malaysia was occupied from 1942 to 45. Just 3 years but it was hell on earth. I can't imagine what Taiwan went through for 50 years.
@uncleTomat0 This shows how important history should be taught without distortions. As a Malaysian, I feel embarrassed whenever I see such comments defending Imperial Japan from my countrymen on social media.
@uncleTomat0 These type of nonsense still exist in Malaysia too. I have seen social media comments claiming Malaysians invited Japan to help overthrow the British, and of course it will start devolving into racial rhetoric which I am embarrassed to type here.
@zulmah56 BM is quite easy to learn because of suku kata, even with guessing you can get the pronunciation right. Especially now with more new loan words from English like "parkir", "esei", though I personally prefer the "older" versions.
@adibhazlami My great grandma married at 13 to a man 3x her age, because they said Japanese soldiers won't touch married women. I asked if its true, my grandmother became very quiet. I stopped asking, and I never want to find out the answer.
@mmoyinn I was in an interview where they said I was "lazy", "useless", etc, because I worked for a place that offered hybrid work arrangements. Then talked really fast and kept interrupting me loudly. Finally ended the interview by walking out. I cried in the lobby.
