Jurassic World Rebirth still has the incorrect timeline error added at the start of the movie. Reminder, this movie is set in 2028 and dinosaurs returned in 1986. 42-years between, not 32-years... 🦖
This was a very simple change that I am amazed Universal didn't do... 🥲
I have yet to see Captain America: Brave New World (and I’m cool with that). But I’ve seen this pic floating around. I don’t know the full context, but as a timeline geek, this is part of the reason I’ve become so averse to making MCU Timeline content lately.
It has become startlingly obvious since the Disney+ timeline began adding titles into the mix that they have no true clue or care about creating a coherent timeline, and more often than not it becomes a game of “well it fits best here, so we either ignore this date, or we ignore that quote, because characters x, y, and z are doing this…”
This is BAD timeline management. The people in charge of the MCU’s timeline do not care. This picture, which lists a day and date for instance: April 16, 2027 does NOT land on a Thursday. This is the easiest possible thing to look up as a prop designer, a writer, a production manager, a timeline coordinator (anyone with any say on what makes it into a frame such as this). But this happens SO OFTEN in the MCU when there’s a day and date combo, where they rarely ever match.
Either they’re making purposely obtuse timeline choices to throw off people like myself, or they truly do not care. And after the official MCU timeline book from 2023, it’s become abundantly clear it’s the latter and that they’re shooting in the dark when it comes to the timeline.
As someone who’s studied every date in this fictional universe, every moon phase, every calendar, every character’s age, every quote about time and season, for over a decade now, it’s impossible not to see the massive cracks in the armor. They stopped caring about this aspect of their universe a long time ago, and are now just trying to trudge their way over to another Endgame level success. And sure. I COULD make a semi-coherent attempt at trying to bridge all these titles together, but I can tell they don’t care, so it is no longer a joy for me. It is a chore.
Anyway, I should have my MCU Timeline v8.0 out sometime this year. 🤷🏻♂️
I'd love to know more about the #MCU's calendar if indeed the date April 16th, 2027, is a Thursday rather than a Friday like it is for us in the real world.
Could it be that they don't use leap year?
Thanks for pointing this out @NewRockstars/@EAVoss.
