Converse with your people today, and keep the truth at the center of it. We all want to #BeInTheKnow about accurate information. Who enjoys learning what you once knew was a lie? Not me. It's more fun to go "yeah I knew that" than "Oh, I didn't know that" Go, converse truthfully.
And if someone does enjoy lying and causing drama, and they're 18-25+ , then they should evaluate how their life is going. Mature people don't have time to spread false information for the enjoyment of others suffering.
Converacity is broken down into parts. ‘Con’ from the beginning of the word, conversation. And the word ‘veracity’ which means ‘accuracy and habitual truthfulness’ these two parts are combined to create converacity, to essentially mean talking about the truth
Don't believe me? Let's break it down.
Gossiping= talking= communication.
The intent behind gossiping/ communicating can always be skewed negatively. But for the most part, people enjoy being truthful.
*two friends talking*
* someone walks in* "What are you two gossiping about?
Friend: " we're just talking"
CONVERSING is not a shameful thing nor does it get critiqued for its accuracy. It's an innate human behavior. Let's call it as we see it.
Gossiping is communicating.
Converacity may integrate staying on top of the latest trends and information about others, but it also pushes for everyone to #BeInTheKnow about the new information that isn't about social interactions. Converacity pushes for truthful communication beyond tale-telling.
Who society thinks gossip the most
- Young teenage girls
Who actually gossips the most
- Moms
- Grandparents
- Nosy neighbor
- Your mail(wo)man
- ADULTS (there are those who could not care less to be in the know, & there are those who have to know everything about everyone!
That is why Converacity aims to rebrand gossiping to people between the age of 18-25 because this is an important stage in your life. While you are expanding your autonomy, you engage with people the most and rely on others for information to guide you.
With this, it makes sense that older people use communication or envy staying in the know more than younger people. Like any other tool, socializing takes practice. Some people are good at it, while others struggle at getting the hang of it.
Phrases that are associated with gossip:
1. Did you hear?
2. What did she/he/ they say?
3. I heard through the grapevine
4. The latest rumor is...
5. The tabloids said...
Gossip spreads information, the good or bad, but communication spread information that is helpful & truthful
Do you find it weird when you see two men talking to each other? No. Is it weird for a group of men to converse with each other via Facetime or Zoom? No. So when did sharing information, gossip, become feminized? Just because women like communication, doesn't mean men don't do it
https://t.co/uq4zO4SKKg Here is a perfect example of how not in control we are of other's people intention. This just goes to show, people's intentions can skew communication. We are trying to put people back in control and reutilize the social tool we use daily.
What words have a double meaning?
Tea= hot beverage or to share information
Zoom=fast movement or a way to attend class
Mouse= rodent or device for a computer
Band- music group or a part of an object
So what's the point of this tweet? It's not hard for people to rebrand a word
One might ask, how can we control people's intention with sharing information? The answer is: we can't. What Converacity aims to do is create a positive connotation with socializing and mitigate the negative connotation attached to Gossip.
Rebranding words is done more often than we think. So instead of using gossip, you're using Converaciyty. They both mean to share information, but Converacity is a social tool that keeps the truth at the forefront. #BeInTheKnow
Gossip is known for its malicious intent. But as social beings, we cannot live without sharing information with each other. So, next time you're wanting to share information with someone but are afraid of being called a Gossiper... just think about how you're using a social tool
Welcome new followers!! To stay on theme, let’s use Converacity. How has everyone’s day been so far? I’ll start: I got some DD and an everything bagel with cream cheese to help me get through this hectic day. It’s helping :)
Converacity is about engaging with your community. How you choose to do so is up to you. But remember spreading information is a social tool regardless of the type of information you share! #BeInTheKnow
