Disengaged. Overstretched. Chronically Absent.
That’s the state of far too many Oakland students. It’s time we told the truth about why.
Our research shows above all else, you have to make school feel worth showing up to. #Oakland#Absenteeism

🔹 Awareness — understanding how the system actually works
🔹 Navigation — learning how to improve it
🔹 Duty — acting on what you know
Through the Agentic Institute, students don't just share opinions. They research. They analyze. They lead.
Our young people are capable of so much. Our founder @ccoleiii is determined to spread that message and to help them reach their full potential. #EnergyConvertors
We teach our young people about the process for taking AGENCY over their studies and lives. Research, analysis and prescribing solutions to problems the system perpetuates. We need them all to CREATE.
.@HowardLFuller — civil rights organizer, former superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools, and special advisor to The Agentic Institute reminds us about balance, and the cost of revolutionary work.
Some of us do this work because of a deep love for our people. The kind of love that can be faked. We're always inspired to hear the words of @HowardLFuller.
During our fireside chat with @HowardLFuller , education activist @citizenstewart reminded us of perhaps the biggest lesson from Dr Fuller. Be clear about the work we are doing for our young people and why we are doing it.

.@HowardLFuller, civil rights icon and special advisor to The Agentic Institute breaks down the importance of class analysis as we interrogate the system and fight for our students to get what they deserve.
No one is coming to save Black males, especially in education - as the system continues to discard them. That's why the work we do is so important. We will continue to help them build up their own agency as systems work to protect the status quo.
We’ve know about grade inflation, where students are getting grades that don’t match what they actually learn. But who is to blame? Sometimes we have to look to the top of these systems.
At energy convertors we're all about giving our young people the chance to do meaningful work. To learn about building agency, and support themselves and their communities.
Young people deserve the power to self-determine.
Adanna Ogbogu, EC national fellow and student at Grambling State University, shared her definition of Agency with our Programs Director, Victor Sandifer.
You cant just assume that students are getting the education they deserve.
We're focused on equipping kids and their families with the tools they need to know exactly how they're doing in school and to make sure they are on the right track to succeed. #EnergyConvertors
This is why we #DoWork! Marginalized folks deserve institutions and organizations that are focused on helping them gain agency. @ccoleiii#EnergyConvertors
