I completely understand where you’re coming from, but for a lot of gamers physical discs are the only way they could afford to play games because they could get them secondhand. You can also give games to your younger siblings Which is a great way to introduce them to the games you were playing.
Most importantly though, as we saw from PlayStation this past week, if the media we buy is only digital, it can be taken away from us at a moment’s notice with no recourse. Imagine that, one day your entire library of games could be deleted overnight because technically you don’t own it.
Thank you for ruining the video game industry for us, and all the passion that we had🚀
It isn’t the economy
It isn’t BiG b0oBs or shaved hair
It isn’t “entitled gamers”
It is your own greed that will be your own undoing, and you will have zero sympathies from us over it.
Maybe the industry does indeed need new big players, because clearly you have zero respect for this craft or the players who made you🎤
Newsflash for any PlayStation player threatening to swap to PC over this, or PCMR dudes using this to dunk on Sony about "muh ownership":
Unless you strictly use GOG or pirate games, your games are beholden to not only Steam DRM but often additional DRM like Denuvo for major releases like Resident Evil Requiem, Black Myth Wukong, Stellar Blade etc.
So stay out of this, considering PC killed disc drives and games before any console did.
For the few who didn’t get it, this isn’t about more storefronts with competitive pricing. This is about having physical media that works 100% offline, which PC gaming does not fix.
Only PC players openly admit to piracy (a punishable crime btw) and claim it's open source and a healthy environment.... I'm not gonna argue anymore I'm just gonna enjoy next year and let it all go. I'll be 40....it's time to go.
@ErikInCt_ It's clear the writing on the walls but PC gamers will tell you you're an idiot. No its time to go outside and get real hobbies not sit on our asses playing videogames. Thank you Sony for forcing our hands
@RinoTheBouncer Welp first a PC costs upwards of $1500 to even make it worth it so there's your first problem consoles were supposed to be for the everyman
@PerfectLegend With all the attention fighters have been getting, SF6 being a return to popular form combined with all the other releases and state of the gaming industry I think now more than ever it's important to "casualify" yourself in the FGC however so just for the sake of sanity.
