The funeral ceremony for Mawlana Shah Karim, our beloved 49th Imam, will take place at the Ismaili Centre Lisbon at 11:00 GMT on Saturday 8 February 2025.

The event will be an intimate ceremony, open to invited guests only. Jamats will be represented by the 22 National Council presidents from around the world. It will be broadcast live on The Ismaili TV and arrangements have been made to screen the ceremony live at Jamatkhanas for the Jamat to take part in this historic and important ceremony. Timing and location details of the screening will be communicated by National Councils.

Thereafter, Mawlana Shah Karim will be laid to rest at a private burial ceremony in Aswan on Sunday 9 February.

At a special Homage ceremony in Lisbon on Tuesday 11 February, Mawlana Hazar Imam will grant an audience to senior leaders of the Jamat, who will pledge their allegiance to the 50th Imam of the Ismailis on behalf of the global Jamat.

It is anticipated that Hazar Imam will ordain an update to the Ismaili constitution and bless the Jamat with Irshad Mubarak.

Arrangements have been made to screen the ceremony live at Jamatkhanas only for members of the Jamat to participate in this landmark moment in each of our lives. Timing and location details of the screening will be communicated by National Councils.
