Sorry for beginning the week with a beef but I have an axe to grind.

How many people can a #medicaldoctor kill at a time? One. (Usually). Yet in order that this won’t happen, I had to train for EIGHT years in medical school to get a provisional licence to practise under the supervision of a more senior doctor. It took another TWO years—it used to be just one year until I showed up LOL 😅—of housemanship to be fully licensed to ply my trade. And then there are Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points or credits year after year “till death do us part,” from courses and other content, to keep one up to date and still licensed to practise medicine. So it is with many other noble professions, although it’s hard to beat Medicine’s mileage (years).

What about #leadership? A #leader, on the other hand, can put thousands—even hundreds of millions—in jeopardy at once but what does it take to formally train and qualify to #lead? Nothing! Not even a licence; let alone CPDs. That’s why we are where we are—in whatever field of human endeavour—especially in our #politics.

Ladies and gentlemen, what do we say to these things and what shall we do?
