So I want to talk about YouTube's demonetization problem.
I'm one of the early victims of this. Last December, I got an email saying my channel was demonetized for "inauthentic content." It was devastating. I wasn't sure if I should post about it on Twitter, I barely used it back then. And if you're wondering why I never cross-posted here, it's because I was finally doing well on YouTube and I make AI videos. AI haters on here could've just mass reported my channel and ended everything, so I kept it separate.
After getting demonetized I just hoped it would get resolved. Then months later, a video that had already been sitting on the platform for probably a year with no problems suddenly got a community guidelines strike. I panicked, wait, they can just do that? If they can hit one video, they can hit all of them. So I deleted all of my videos. 42,107,466 total views. Gone. All that's left is this channel with 50K subscribers.
And by the way, can someone explain this line to me: "while your channel is demonetized, you should not try to monetize new or existing channels to get around these restrictions" , does that mean I literally can't monetize ANY other channel I own until this one gets fixed? Because if that's the case, that is absolutely insane. And since it's been so long and I've deleted the videos, I probably can't even appeal anymore.
I finally made this post because @Leaflit and @TemplarsRoar were discussing this in their latest video, so I thought now was a good time to share.
My plan is to wait and see if this gets resolved before uploading again. because If I re-upload now they could just demonetize me again, it's just not worth it.
If you're a small YouTuber, be careful. They can seriously end your future on the platform if you're not paying attention.
And if you've been hit by this too, please share your experience in the comments below. Stay safe✌️
@KitsuraNines Because I can turn my brainrot ideas into absolute banger art in 30 seconds without begging some 'real artist' for 6 weeks and $400 just to get ghosted or get a half-assed sketch that doesn't match my vision. AI doesn't have an ego, doesn't gatekeep, and actually delivers.
@Okairo_Uzuha AI is often faster, cheaper and better in most cases and doesn't complain. So better to just use AI and skip the endless ghosting, delays, and excuses from "artists" altogether.
