@flyingamit If your interest in Railways and its system has just piked post this incident, i can tell u for sure the normal functioning is far more in depth and intricate than what is available in public domain. Going through PDFs online alone will seldom give you the bigger picture.
@flyingamit What would be the need to activate Kavach when there is already red light displayed? It only kicks in when such signal is jumped or SPAD and in this case the time is so less even that or any System would have been futile.
@flyingamit Nope this was an Electronic Interlocking Failure centered around that POINT. Interlocking involves everything signal point sensors etc. The system would only turn it red when it would be able to sense that the points affected are set.
@flyingamit Additionally you have digressed from the original topic of KAVACH. I have mentioned it before even if signal did turn red , Loco Pilot would have stopped the train safely. Why would u need TCAS? And in the even he didn’t distance was too less for any system to act.
@flyingamit This is exactly what i m saying had it been a fail proof system, signal would have turn red no matter what. But this wasn’t the case. The very system which decides something is fishy or not and thereby changing aspect of signal to red just to be safe, was compromised.
@flyingamit 2/n The controller set the track for through, the point never changed , however it did for track circuitry hence the signal displayed green. Its like fuse in household is a fail proof method for surge in power but what is someone replaced it with a thicker wire ?
@flyingamit 5/n) Hence Kavach wouldn’t have stopped it , because it isn’t designed for things like interlocking failure. It in turn relies on those logic to do its job.
@flyingamit 4/n B) Even if he didn’t and SPAD occurred , the distance between the Home signal and Brake van ( rear of goods train) at the speed of 130kmph is hardly 5-7secs. No system can safely stop a train with such speeds in such less time.
@flyingamit Stationary TCAS works based on SPAD and TIN , SPAD was not the case here. As far as TIN is concerned when the very logic of interlocking failed to detect mismatch between signal aspect and line aspect, where would one expect TCAS to gather its data and act from ?
@flyingamit Nope they weren't on the same line, one was on loop and one on main. What it means is that they were put at the same line in last moment which at that speed is 2-5 sec from collision. No TCAS can act in such short time.
@iujjawaltrivedi@AkasaAir No , Sorry, the common masses don’t suffer through this , because they aren’t dumb to not understand the difference between an “Airport” and “Terminal of an Airport”. Terminal 1 or Domestic Terminal is still a terminal of “Mumbai International Airport” only !
