West Cork has numerous archaeological sites with winter solstice alignments. Probably the best known of these is the Drombeg Stone Circle, near Glandore, where on the shortest day the sun sets in a dip between two hills in alignment with the circle’s axial and portal stones.
2025 was another bumper year for local Journals including; Skibbereen Historical Journal Vol.21, Bantry Historical Journal Vol.5, Pictorial Past of Dunmanway Vol.X, Bandon Historical Journal No.42, Castlehaven & Myross History Journal Vol.6 and Macroom History Journal Vol.1.
