Voting for yourself is a surreal experience. As I filled out my ballot today, I thought of our great volunteers who have our so much effort into our people-powered movement. None of this would be possible without that dedication and desire for change. That’s true #PeoplePower

This campaign has been an incredibly humbling experience and I am eternally grateful for all the support from our team and our community. But we still have work to do. On Aug. 4th, we’ll show everyone what #peoplepower looks like.
@itsshellyguys@flowersLFK Of course, information is key. If you’d like to learn more about our campaign for change, head over to https://t.co/Unscv98IYs! We are also happy to answer any questions.
Those who have resisted reforms in our criminal legal system for so long have relied on the politics of fear to drive their message. But we won’t buy into the fear-mongering. Study after study shows: decarceration works, and makes communities safer and healthier.
Report by @ACLU debunks fear-mongering myths about decarceration, finding "compared with trends from previous years, there was no evidence of spikes in crime in any of the places studied."
Reducing jail populations, especially during COVID-19, promotes public safety.
