POE2 overcomes much of this by adding range via AOE in Melee Attacks.

Giant Slams, Spinning attacks, fissures, totems, hollow focus.

New players will have much more trouble getting items and understanding damage calculations.

Melee is not uniquely difficult in POE2 relative to any game that has instantly responsive movement.

Without turn speed, it is fundamentally impossible for Melee to be as easy ranged, because ranged never have to enter Melee range.

This also makes Melee more engaging to play.
