@JyleeRahman Somebody create a way to generate an SVG sheet of these that can be cut out on a Cricut, or go to an Avery label sheet. Apps that cross-over into the physical world are going to see a renaissance where people are craving an analog component.
10 side quests for all the cooks and foodies
- A Recipe with a Voice (1 hr)
Call someone older than you and ask them to walk you through a recipe from memory. Cook it while they talk.
- Illustrate a Recipe (30 min)
Pick a recipe you know by heart and write it out by hand, but replace the ingredient list with little drawings. Give it to someone who cooks.
- Cook Together, Eat Together (Half day)
Invite people over not for dinner, but for the cooking. Give everyone a task. The meal is just what happens at the end.
- Cook for Someone Who Didn't Ask (1 hr)
Make a simple meal or snack for someone nearby. Not because it's a special occasion, just because they're there and you thought of them.
- Season a Pan from Scratch (1 hr)
If you have a cast iron skillet that's been neglected, scrub it bare and oil it thin and heat it until it smokes. Do it three times. You're not cooking. You're giving something its armor back.
- Taste Test Expedition (30 min)
Pick a fruit or vegetable at the grocery store that nobody in your house has ever tried. Bring it home and figure out how to eat it together.
- One Omelette, No Recipe (Quick)
Crack three eggs and make an omelette using only what you already know. Next time, try it differently. That's how a skill becomes yours.
- Compose a Menu for a Meal That Doesn't Exist (30 min)
On a piece of paper, write out a full menu for an imaginary restaurant. Name the dishes, describe them in a sentence each, give the place a name. Tape it to your fridge.
- Spice Blend from Instinct (Quick)
Open your spice cabinet and smell everything in it. Blend three or four together based on nothing but what your nose says. Label the jar with today's date. You just invented something.
- The Spice You Can't Name (30 min)
Go to a grocery store or market and find a spice you've never cooked with. Bring it home and smell it before you decide what to do with it.
- Pickle Something Today (30 min)
Slice a cucumber, a few radishes, or whatever vegetable is in your fridge. Put the slices in a jar with vinegar, salt, and a pinch of sugar. In an hour you'll have made something that lasts.
