Something just happened before my eyes that made me wish for death rather than witness it.
I was in the emergency department, anxiously waiting for my wife to feel better,
when suddenly, in a single moment, an ambulance arrived carrying martyrs from an area targeted by the occupation forces.
As soon as the doctors learned there were martyrs and injuries, they rushed in, their voices rising:
“Doctors, everyone must head to the intensive care unit immediately—there are martyrs and injuries!”
The scene was a race against time, everyone running to save whoever could still be saved.
Among them was the physician in charge of the entire emergency department, doing everything he could to manage the situation.
But then…
As soon as he saw the victims, he broke down before our eyes,
letting out a scream that shook the whole place—a scream of pain and despair:
“My mother… my father… my brother… my sister!”
He repeated it over and over: “My mother… my father… my brother… my sister…”
Only to realize the martyrs were his entire family.
He didn’t stop crying and wailing, his voice tearing our hearts apart:
“My whole family has been killed… my family… my family… It’s been over two months since I last saw them!”
Doctors rushed to comfort him, to calm him down, though they knew no words could ease such agony,
but they had no other choice but to try.
I saw with my own eyes his pain, his screams, his grief over his family.
The scene broke my heart and everyone else’s in the room;
we cried with him in silence, paralyzed, unable to do anything.
Imagine the scale of this pain—a doctor dedicating his life to saving others,
staying away from his family for months,
only to find them, at last, before him as martyrs.
I hated my life; I hated every day I was still alive.
We are living through a pain deeper and harsher than death itself,
circumstances no human heart can bear.😭💔
